Amp hum...

Its a Fender P correct?
Then yes, it should be.
Unless it was altered to parallel sometime down the road.... but i cant see why somebody would do that with only ONE P pickup...
Dual Blade magnets, like some Dimarzios, sure...
But anyways, yes.
Is there a grounding wire coming from the bridge?

Also, you may want to try pulling off the bridge, and putting a piece of shielding tape under the bridge ground wire...
So the wire ONLY has contact with the bridge..
Simple, yes, but it can't hurt to be thorough..

**Oh, and another thing i recommend, is if you are semi skilled with a soldering iron,
I suggest that you Un Wire the ENTIRE bass, get a Proper schematic, and then wire it up again.
I've heard of people swapping pickups/pots/everything only to find that the problem was one tiny little wire not soldered properly to its destination....
Up to you!**

I shielded the inside cavity and the underside of the pg.

Holy... Crap!!!

95% of the loud, irritating hum is gone! And this is just with kitchen aluminum foil!

It seems though that the tone has been affected as well. I dont like that! I'll try to equalize it back to the way it was. It seems as if a bit of the high end is gone.
