Amp ID...blurry pic

Browsing through ads of estate sales, I spotted this amp head in a picture. It looks like an Ampeg SVT but after comparing to pictures of Ampegs, I'm not sure that it is.

Any clue as to what this is?

Yeah, looks pretty close to it. Only difference I can see is where the faceplate angles back, the enclosure also angles.

I'm trying to figure out if it's worth picking up as the drive to the sale is about an hour.

Meh, only an hour drive? I'd go and see what it is and how cheap you can get it. Could be junk and you've wasted a little time. Could be a cool little piece for restoration.

Looks like possibly an Ampeg SVT from the 70's, some of those enclosures angled too I believe. What's throwing me off is that it seems to have a handle on top, whereas most Ampegs have handles on the side.

I don't think it's an SVT - probably not even an Ampeg. Definitely looks too small. V2s had a straight front. Angled-front amps like the SVT, B25, and Gemini 22 didn't have metal corners on the top, and the corners they did have weren't black. The control layout looks odd - Ampegs from that era didn't split the inputs - they were all grouped on the left side. Also missing is the plethora of black rocker switches along the top of the control panel that were present on most models. The SS amps were not as tall. Doesn't look like a Giulietti, Andre or Oliver, which would be the closest "blood relatives" from that period. As I recall, there were a few manufacturers, mostly private / foreign / store brands that produced amps that bore a passing resemblance to 70s Ampegs. Could be one of them.

Hard to tell if its a handle on top...looks like that part could belong to that woolie looking thing. Its too narrow to be a V2. Corner pieces are not chrome like SVT or V2. My guess is a "Knockov".
