Hey guys, anyone running a digital modeler into PA in a live setting? If so what are you guys using? I have the MS60B and its pretty good, some amps are a little noisy.

Amp Modeler direct FOH?

Fractal audio AXEFXII, ZOOM B3, or Atomic Amps AmpliFire, all direct into full range stage rig and to the mains mixer. Been doing it for years and probably won't go back to gigging a traditional rig again. No more guessing whether the PA is getting the same tone as my stage rig.
I have used the zoom b3 this way, with no amp, for a smaller gig. Matter of fact that's the pic in my avatar from that show.
It was house sound with lots of groups playing and all sorts of weird instruments (ukulele, tabla, laptop with sound effects, trumpet). The drummer's sidefill was enormous so I skipped the amp
and asked the soundguy to put lots of bass in the drummer's sidefill.
Of course he forgot to put any bass in monitors anywhere and after the first song I had to remind him.
Now I have IEM's, but I'm not sure our PA is up to the challenge of carrying the bass by itself.
I would certainly consider doing this again for a multi-band bill at a place with a good sound system.
EDIT: my actual bass rig is zoom b3 ---> power amp ----> acme b2 2x10. The sound coming out of my own amp should be basically what the FOH is getting anyway.

Although I do use an amp, I use a 3-way cab so I know what the FOH is getting. I've also had great luck using just my BDDI straight to FOH.
Well, I figured that a good place to start would be with a clean tube amp, so I tried the US Clean (Fender Twin, presumably) amp model, but the key thing was that I loaded up some Redwirez 8x10 SVT impulse responses rather than use any of the stock cabinets. This makes ALL the difference. I'm hoping the AmpliFire adds a bass amp model in future firmware, along with some bass cabs. Studio Devil has a really good software bass amp plug-in, so they're no stranger to bass amp/cab simulations.
I've also tried putting the ZOOM B1Xon (dirt cheap fx toy) in the loop of the AmpliFire, and using Switch 3 of the amplifire to engage/bypass the loop. This actually works well, and sounds pretty good for adding a lot of extra multi-effects options, and a better tuner than the Amplifire has. This also gives me the option of using the Zoom amp models (sans cab modeling) rather than messing with the Amplifire's guitar amps, although I will say that you can get some great bass amp sounds with the right combination of guitar amp models and cab IRs....depends on what you're looking for.
In the end, currently, with the Amplifire it is all about the IR loading feature, and having a good selection of 3rd party bass cab IRs to choose from. Ownhammer is about to release a whole bunch of 4x10 Ampeg IRs soon, and they are experts in the field. Can't wait for them to drop.
