Amp noob here needs help!

Remember this - 75W of guitar amp is not the same as 75W of bass amp. The rule of thumb is that you need 3-4x the wattage as the guitar, and enough headspace to cut through the drums and other noise factors associated with gigging.
75 x 4 = 300 Watts - exactly what was mentioned earlier. Get something with no less than 300W in a ported cabinet so that the air movement is good - this is the most important factor in good live bass sound. Read this article:

Lots of good stuff in there about amps.
I also agree about buying used - tons of great deals on here, and Craigslist (as a last resort, if and ONLY if the wonderful sellers on here can't get you what you need!)...

Yeah - only 200 Watts would disappoint me too. They will invariably get overcranked, distort and just sound like cr@p and then they are on the cutting edge of overheating and dying. And at that power setting, you must be pushing it pretty hard, after all 200 Watts is kinda small.

I have practice amps with 300 Watts and I just barely find that acceptable.

Oh no. You've got me wrong. It's plenty loud enough. I don't drive it hard at all. My guitarist is very open to my suggestions, like turning down / turning down his bass knob. It's the Notch knob! There's no way to disable it on the B200. No matter what I do, there's a huge -10dB notch somewhere in my EQ between 50Hz-1kHz. I can have either Bass or Mids, but not both. It's a totally wimpy sounding amp, with no bottom end. It would make a better guitar amp. I am getting rid of it at the earliest opportunity. I honestly can't think of a reason why a manufacturer would ruin an amp like that.

Are you also running a footswitch at the same time for the Standby?

If so, try taking it out and see what happens. I'm sorry to flog this, but I am terrifically happy with my Acoustic and I am really kinda sad that you are having such troubles.

There's something wrong in either the set up or maybe the amp's just a lemon. It happens.
