Double Bass Amp not workong?

So a couple of years ago I inherited a peavey basic 112 amp from a retired teacher of mine. It never worked but now since I need an amp, I want to get it working. It appears perfectly functional... All untill you plug something in. The light turns on but it makes no sound whatsoever. No noise when you plug the cable in, nothing. Since this is a relatively inexpensive amp (worth a couple hundred dollars apparently) I am in not position to have it looked at by a professional. If anybody can give me an idea o what is wrong with it that would be awesome. If there are specific things to test for I would be more then willing to do whatever you need, take picures, videos, open it up. Anything at all to get it working. I would greatly appreciate any links or suflggestion!

In the old days I would tell you to pull all the tubes, go to your nearest drug store, and test them on the free tester. Things are not as simple now days. You could have a blown speaker, so if it has a extension speaker jack you could try plugging a cabinet into it to see if it works. Since I'm not a technician that's all I've got. Peavey's are pretty bullet proof, but it could be all kinds of things. Personally, I'd save up my cash until I could get a GK MB112 or something like it. Good Luck.

So I opened it up and in 3 Secomds I realized that I was in way over my head. I am. Goin to put up a trade feeler for this, otherwise it's going back in storage I guess. I would feel bad selling it since it was a gift more than anything.

Unfortunately, new amps are so complicated you need a technician to figure them out. Peavey's are made here in the states I believe so it can probably be repaired, but the cost of doing that could possibly run more than the price of a new amp. You made the right choice. Older amplifiers were built with some self repair in mind.
