Amp shut down, need advice

Yeah, I know; I'll find a way to test the speakers; B-strings 9 volt idea should work. I think my Tubeworks can handle a 2 ohm load, so if I can pull that speakon cable apart I should be able to wire a normal 1/4 in jack just for testing, right?

Do you actually have a cable, rather than an internal connection to the speaker? If so, yes, should be easy to put on a 1/4 jack.

Yes, there is a female speakon on back of head and a hard wired speakon cable that comes out of the speaker cab. Do they make a cable with a speakon end and a 1/4 in end? I could just buy one and test the amp into a different speaker cab that way. But Is till need to pull the speaker cable apart to test those. My Ampeg PF-500 has a speakon jack in back of head, but not supposed to go below 4 ohms. The Kustom amp speakers are 3 ohms. Weird, I know...

"they" do you or "you" can - it's not hard, nor uncommon. $7.98, shipped. Another $5.38 gets you an f-f speakon coupler so you can plug it into your cable, too. Just be sure you have NL-4's before grabbing those (NL-2's can plug into NL-4, but an NL-4 can't plug into an NL-2 jack)

Hey fellas, hope you guys are still tuned in! Sorry for delay, work has been a bear lately...anyway, took the speakon apart and did the battery test...speakers popped just like they should, so they seem to be fine. Is there anything left for me to do beyond this point to troubleshoot my issue? Incidentally, the amp never did start working again after the last shutdown; still nothing....

Thanks B-string; you've been very gracious to help me out with this. One last question; when I disassembled the speakon connector, I neglected to note where the 2 wires hooked up, so I just went positive to 1+ and negative to 1-. That should be right, right?
