Yeah, I know; I'll find a way to test the speakers; B-strings 9 volt idea should work. I think my Tubeworks can handle a 2 ohm load, so if I can pull that speakon cable apart I should be able to wire a normal 1/4 in jack just for testing, right?

Yes, there is a female speakon on back of head and a hard wired speakon cable that comes out of the speaker cab. Do they make a cable with a speakon end and a 1/4 in end? I could just buy one and test the amp into a different speaker cab that way. But Is till need to pull the speaker cable apart to test those. My Ampeg PF-500 has a speakon jack in back of head, but not supposed to go below 4 ohms. The Kustom amp speakers are 3 ohms. Weird, I know...Do you actually have a cable, rather than an internal connection to the speaker? If so, yes, should be easy to put on a 1/4 jack.

Sure thing B-string. Battery test is just touching the speaker wires to the 9 volt terminals; should hear a pop if speakers are ok right?Don't hook up that 3 ohm load to your PF500. That is asking for trouble. Just do the battery test on the combo's speakers.

Thanks B-string; you've been very gracious to help me out with this. One last question; when I disassembled the speakon connector, I neglected to note where the 2 wires hooked up, so I just went positive to 1+ and negative to 1-. That should be right, right?
