Amp to pair with GS112

Ok, so I'm looking for a good quality amp to pair with an Aguilar GS112. The cab handles 300 watts, 8 ohms, but of course you all know that already.

I know there's probably a fair few out there but I'm not sure what...the GB shuttle 3.0 is the only one that immediately springs to mind. Ideally, I want something that can put out a fair bit of volume, but sound quality is the most important factor.

anything really. the aggie does actually like a bit of power. I had the best results hitting it with an amp slightly over the 300 watts @ 8 ohms rating of the cab. The aggie is a really nice cab, but a bit mid shy and not the loudest small cab out there as a result. It seems to really come into its own when hit with some decent power.

So what do you reckon? More than 300 watts? Is the Shuttle 6.0 too powerful at 375 watts?

no not at all. is it 375 watts @ 8 ohms or @ 4 ohms??

if it is 375 watts @ 8 ohms that's not too different than the aggie's 300 watt rating as an 8 ohm cab. even so, you just have to be careful and listen to the cab to hear if you're overdriving it.

tell me, in your experience, having had the BE cabs like I use and switching to the aggies (i had one but had to sell it), do you find you needed more power to get as loud? I know you definitly have a different tone with more bass for sure, but what has your long term finding been?

I have an Eden WT405 and it sounds outstanding with it! Unfortunately I'm downsizing at the moment to raise some fundage so I'm kind of intrigued as to what others are using! So far for me it's between a GK 700RB-II, GB Shuttle 6.0, and Markbass LMII. Anyone help me out as well?

I don't think it's a matter of loudness. At least not a whole lot of difference that I've noticed. I had two Bag End 15s and sold them to get the GS112s. The 15s were easier to hear on stage because they had alot of midrange and they sat up a bit higher. The GS112s are somewhat mid scooped and have a lower profile so in loud band settings I did notice a bit of not being able to hear myself. Raising the cabs did seem to help some.
To my ears the bag ends sounded boxy soloed but cut through the mix. The GS112s sounded more "ampeg" like (only better) and gave more low end thump.

Actually it will be a little less.. The 6.0 puts out 375 in one 8 ohm cab.. and 600 watts into two 8 ohm cabs which would be a total 4 ohm load when connected to that amps speaker outs.

.. So a 6.0 will do 600 watts in a pair of those aggy cabs

If you wanted to get 375 into each i would recommend a Shuttle MAX12 that way you could run each side of the amp at 8 ohms into each cab and get 375 watts per cab.. that is exactly what i do for a total of 750 watts..

Right you are. I was thinking ShuttleMAX 12.0. But I was writing Shuttle 6.0... :o

I've got an LMII setup as well. Pairs very nicely. Just picked up a Shuttle 6.0, though I need to try it on a gig. I do the LMII pairs BETTER than an Aguilar AG500 which I just let go of, personally. The mids are a little nicer with the LMII to me, especially with the GS112. I've been really happy with this setup.

I beg to differ...the Max12.0 has 2 of the 6.0 power amps in it. The 9.0 would give you 500 to 1 cab and 900 to 2. The 6.0 would be a wonderful match and if you need more eq the Max6.0
