Apparantly, I do things a bit different from everyone... I tend to play both passives and actives during a typical 4 hour gig - so, I EQ my amp to sound it's best with whatever passive I'm using that night, then adjust the active bass's EQ to work well with those amp settings... That way, I can switch up during the night without having to change anything, and the soundman is usually good to go, also...
That being said, I've went thru alot of gear 'til I've found stuff that doesn't require alot of tweaking to sound good to my ears... I pretty much always run a post-EQ DI send, without any crazy EQing, and never seem to get any complaints from the soundmen I work with...
Occasionally, I'll get asked to cut lows a little, but that's mostly because I play in a loud 2 guitar band, and use a ported 810 that really thumps - and it sometimes causes problems with either the FOH subs, or with on stage mics... Although that's more of a product of what's coming out of my cab, and not the EQ of my DI send, for the most part - and a fairly rare occurance, too...
