ampeg 4 pro question

I just received a 4 pro in the mail and I'm not home to check with a cabinet. If I turn this on with the mute switch in, should the peak light be lit up? Can someone with a 4 pro check this out for me? Not going to be able to run this with a can for a few hours and wants to settle my anxiety.

It's been a few years since I owned a 4 Pro, but I do seem to remember some sort of LED turning on when the mute was engaged.

Here you go. This is a direct quote from the 4 Pro manual:

MUTE:
Press this switch in to mute all outputs except the tuner outs [2, 49]. The footswitch may also control muting if the mute switch [3] on the front panel is left in the “out” position. (The front panel switch is still active with the footswitch connected. This is excellent for tuning your bass with an electric tuner without having to adjust any levels to turn down the sound). The peak LED [6] will illuminate when this switch is engaged.

yes pushing the mute engage the peak led... this is nrmal... I'll suggest to read the manual which is on the ampeg site...

IMHO, the SVT-4 Pro is maybe THE most versatile bass amplifier ever made. Have fun experimenting with all of its options!

I wish I hadn't sold the last one but wasnt playing and was REALLY stupid. Glad I was able to save up for another one. It really is versatile and honestly the best head I owned.

And I totally forget whether I can use the special bridging cable as a standard use cable or do I have to buy a second one if I'm just running one side of the amp?

Pretty sure you have to buy a standard one for one side. Or rewire your old one.

Also, a preemptive suggestion: Make sure you pick your rack very carefully if you intend to rack-mount the amp. The Pro series has vents on the sides; they need side air flow.

That depends on if it's New or just new to you. Read the back of the amp. With the NEW ones there is no need for a special mono-bridge cable. Any normally wired speakon will work.

It came with a 4 space road ready rack case(meh) which allows for side venting. However the damn rack adds 20+lbs to the amp. When I had your old one, I took a 3 space standard skb case, and drilled out about 60 small vent holes under the handle. This worked perfect, even in the hottest temps. Never had an overheating problem with it.
