hello! wondering if anyone has a wiring diagram, instructions or insight for a Ampeg 6x10 cab? I'm guessing it's from the mid/late 90's. I can't seem to find this info on the web. Trouble is that I found that the attenuator on the back had been bypassed at some point when pulling 2 of the speakers to send out for repair. Would like to get this cab back to as close to original as possible but don't know jack about wiring a cab. thanks!
If nobody answers, call Ampeg CS. Number's on Welcome To Ampeg . But someone will answer...just not me.
Most of the 6x10's now days have 6 ohm speakers in them. So they are basically THREE 2x12's wires in series. And then the THREE 2x12's wired in parallel with the input. As far as the tweeter goes, you can get a 4 ohm LPAD pretty cheap and wire that in with the tweeter if u want. If not I assume u just wire it in parallel with the drivers. I may be wrong about the tweeter but I'm pretty sure that's how the drivers are wired.
On the attenuator(facing away from you) left to right: Blue wire goes to J6, Red to J8, Black to J7. Speakers are 6 ohms. Anything else?
Oops. Yea I build a lot of 2x12 guitar cabs and I'm so use to typing 2x12 and not 2x10 ha ha. But anyway, is that correct?
jon is correct. I used to have a 610hlf and that's how mine was wired. three pairs of 2X10 wired in parallel (each pair 12 ohms total) 4ohm cab using six 6ohm speakers. inside the cab there was also a divider for each pair (like the 810)
Thanks John. Just found this post during an internet search. Ampeg had two of my speakers wired backward.
using someone else;s 610hlf at practice spot, is it wired (series parallel) 3 12 ohm loads in parallel? not sure if another 4ohm cab such as a 210 or single 15 to pair with it would be a good idea. p
