Ampeg 810 Alternatives

Hey Everyone

I'm looking for an alternative to the Ampeg 810 cab to go with my V4B head. I'm currently using a Heritage 410 HLF, which is a great Cab but I'm now looking for a sound closer to the 810E without having to own or store one. Is there a sealed 410 in the Ampeg range and is it close to the 810 sound? TIA

The SVT212AV is said to be similar in sound to the 810e.

How about a full range flat response cab and an amp and cab modeller? Then you could sound like a whole range of different cabs and/or amps?

I mention this in case you hadn't thought of it. I appreciate it might not be helpful to your situation.

The 410HE is very close to being half of an 810. It uses the same drivers and is sealed. Some minor differences. the volume of the chamber the drivers are loaded in is slightly smaller on the 410HE, so the low end will start rolling off at a slightly higher frequency.

F3 = 58hz
F10 = 40hz​

410HE

F3 = 60hz
F10 = 43hz​

The different low frequency knee is shown clearly here in the specs.

The other difference is the 410HE has a horn tweeter. I believe the 10's are run full range. The horn has an HPF and an L-Pad. This means you can adjust the level of the horn or turn it off if you want the more traditional high end of the 810E

It's not a 410, and it's not from Ampeg, and it's slightly taller than the Ampeg 410HE cabinets.

A Bergantino NV610 or a NV610T cabinet.

To "my ears" the Berg sounds like the old Ampeg flat-back 810's of the late 60's/early 70's, great clarity, full but rounded highs, mids, and solid lows with NO mud.
The Berg cabinet is sealed, it's alittle smaller than a Ampeg 810, (36"×24"×15", weight 100 lbs.) and capable of handling alot more power, (750 watts.)

Also, the NV610 is truly great with a V4B or SVT head.

Drawback: The NV's are not being built any longer, you'll have to find a used one.

I have Both an 810 & a 410he. To me they sound very much alike. The 810 is taller so the sound is bigger. But the 410he sounds very similar to me.

I’ll second the NV610.

I’ll also add in that two NV115s sound marvellous as well.

I own an Ampeg SVT-VR.
And I use the NV610 or the pair of NV115s with this amp.
Best rig I’ve owned hands down!

I gigged for several years with an 8 10. My back finally convinced me to try something lighter. I picked up a 2 12 av and have been thrilled with it. Closest sound to an 8 10 I have heard. If it's a huge outdoor gig with no P A support , I still break out the old 8 10. Everything else these days is with the 2 12.
