Ampeg B-15 thread... first ever?

Absolutely no reason at all, Pedro. That's why there's two speaker jacks. My B-15N sounds like a B-15N in every speaker combo I've used it with. And don't let anyone fool you...with a 4-ohm load, it's a loud amp.

It's not that hard to move it. The cab weighs 60 lbs. Plus my head has long been unbolted from the fliptop so I can carry them separately. The bad part is I can't fliptop it, though, and I have to be careful with the head when moving. But Mr. Oliver will soon take care of that!

Ah heck I couldn't help it. At lunch I went and tried out a Fender Bassman w/ 2x12 cabinet vs the B15S. Both sounded just wonderful but ultimately I decided that the B15 was the way to go. I was surprised that when the top was removed and carried separately, it really wasn't as big a chore as I had expected (JimmyM, you were right). Certainly much easier on the back then my Kustom Charger. I'm looking forward to giving her a good spin tonight (assuming the wife and daughter exit the premises).

Too early to tell about how giggable this will be. All the guys in the band seem to have a pretty good handle on their volume. That and perhaps with an extension cab and/or using the 'Ext Amp' we might just get away with it from time to time. It certainly captures the vibe for our style of music.

Look at you go, dude! Please post a pic when you get a chance, and congratulations...you are now in the most esteemed category a bass player could be in *...owner of a B-15!

(*other than being the world's greatest bassist, that is...no hope for me, that's for sure ;) )

Which leads me to yet another question - is there any reason that the B15S can't power a separate additional cabinet, like my Carvin 1503? Its a 8ohm cabinet.

Simply remember the Ampeg cord so the amp fires up. I used the head to power a 2x15 Kustom both as an etxension cab and seperatly. As extension cab I had a 360 (301) with a Pyle 100oz 18", a 2x15 Kustom, an unknown 18".
As speakers in the cab I used the original CTS 15G54B(?), A Golleon- way cool woody sound and more volume with less knob, and a JBL K140- it barked alot and I never liked it alot.

Slow down hoss. The 360 was a preamp and the cabinet was a 361 w/ had a power amp in it so I'm confused how you used it with the B15. And what is a 'Pyle 100oz 18"?

Well, I hate to interrupt Wesley's answer to Pedro after 5 days, but I gots my B-15N all packed up and ready to go to Jess Oliver tomorrow, where it will undergo a radical facelift. Having Jess do this is the next best thing to owning a completely original mint B-15N, judging by the prices. Not that I'd ever sell it. I may get another B series amp or two before it's all over for me, but this one will be the one they bury me with. They say you can't take it with you? I'm taking it with me. I'll miss it. I've been using my Markbass combo on gigs lately, but when I get it back, I plan to use it more often. Love the Markbass, but there's no substitute for tubes. Yet.
