Ampeg B200R Owners - Vibrations?

Yikes, I have all knobs set at 12 o-clock pretty much, and I'm getting a crazy vibration in the chassis area (the aluminum assembly where the knobs and all electronics are). Very, very bad when hitting the E at the 12th fret on E string.

Is this normal? If it is, I'm calling Ampeg and see what they can do... I just picked this thing up this weekend, but in a different state, so I can't just take it back.

I didn't notice this at the store, but at home it's just really bad, and I don't think I can live with it... This is the China version BTW :rollno:

FWIW...I bought 2 of these before I gave up on them. The first one just died when I switched from the horn mode to w/o horn, and the second one just died at a gig. It had power just nothing coming from the 15" speaker. Just my 2 cents. I now have a Nemesis NC-210.The best little combo I have ever owned, and I have been playing professionally for over 30 years!

I called ampeg and they told me to take it to the authorized repair center, which luckily happens to be just down the street from where I work.

I'd try fixing it myseld, but since it's under wattanty (and just bought it) I don't want to mess with it.

Love the tone so far, but the vibrations make it unusable to me at this point. Will post findings from repair center here.

Check my post on my B200R woes. The Ampeg (LOUD Tech.) support was no help for me at all. It's a construction issue. The recent models are made in China and the way they're constructed the amp chassis is in the cab so tight it vibrates the whole amp chassis really bad. You can see on mine where they tore the vinyl when they put the chassis in and patched it up. Also, there are absolutely no braces inside the cab portion of the combo and the plywood is not good quality. It's really sad for the Ampeg name that the quality has gone in the toilet on these Chinese made amps.

Amen Rob! I have bruises all over my backside for kicking myself for buying the B200R and not the B100R or another model.......but NOOOOO... I had to have 220 watts.....

I owned the amp for 5 days and used it at 3 gigs. Took it back because it vibrated so badly on certain notes and it looked like someone tried to fix it by screwing the chassis down so overly hard that it warped it. If anyone is going to break and devalue my gear, its going to be me.

It shows many amps from ampeg that have been listed on their site for months! I asked about ordering one of these and the Ampeg rep said they aren't available yet? I'm sorry to say but Ampeg has many issues right now:eyebrow:

Actually my chassis was warped on one side too, but I figured.. no biggy, I'll take it anyway... Maybe that should have been the first clue!

The dealer made it hard to pass up though $510.00 plus tax, ended-up being under $550.00 out the door... He went low on the price because I almost walked away when I saw it was the China model... maybe I should have :eyebrow:

Just read your post... Pretty much the same exact description of what's happening on mine... Definitely a design flaw.

I guess I'll just suck it up and wait two weeks and see if they are actually able to fix it... starting to doubt it now.

Just for the sake of having decent ampeg amps in the future, comunicate these problems to anyone at ampeg... I'm sure they are listening, but is still a shame, hope we have better news in the future, I really wanted to buy this amp, but I think there are better options out there, right now.

Are those STILL not available??? That's ridiculous. Ampeg needs to get those out, otherwise people will just get something else from another company.
