Ampeg B2R: cabinet setup question

Hey all. First post here. I've had the Ampeg B2R head for a few years now and it's been very good. Hundreds of gigs, never an issue. Anyway, I'm running it through the B410HLF cabinet, which is rated 400RMS @ 4, and really thought I'd be able to add the B115 cabinet at some point. The problem I see is that I can't add anything to my B410HLF with the B2R because it would bring the overall ohms below 4 and the head says not to go below 4 ohms.

Do I have this straight? I'm far from an expert on these power/resistance related things (clearly) . A sales guy at a local music store said they could bring the B410HLF from 4 to 8 ohms so that I could pair it with the B115 (8 ohms). Thoughts? I was a tad reluctant.

The guy at the store is incorrect, at best. There is NO way to convert your 4ohm cab to 8ohms, without replacing the speakers, sorry. The best you could do is to wire the 4 10's in series, this would result in a 16ohm load. With that done, you COULD run another, 8ohm cab, but it would receive double the power of your modded 4x10- not a good situation.

Yup, for the time being, you're stuck with the one cab. Of course, you could sell the 4 ohm 410, and buy 2 8 ohm cabs, but that seems like an awful lot of trouble for not much gain, Your rig should be putting out enough power to whomp those speakers pretty well.
