Ampeg B2r looses power

I have search this forum and found other solutions for a different problem of lost power. With my B2r the Master volume pot needs to be replaced I believe. If I play it seems like I am getting half of my power but if I apply a little pressure to the knob with my finger I get instant full power. When I take my finger off I loose the power right away. I normally use my Swr Silverado when I play out but it would be nice to use this with my 410 hlf again. Any help or Ideas to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds to me like you've found the problem.

What are you asking?

If pushing or wiggling the pot seems to make this start/stop, it's probably a cold joint where this pot is soldered to the breakaway preamp board or (less likely) a defective pot.

This is an easy amp to work on. I'd pull the preamp board and look for a bad connection by or to the Master pot. That's probably all it is.

A pretty large majority of amp fixes are simple stuff like that.

Watch out for the big caps on the amplifier board. They can kill you. The preamp breakaway board is safe and is held in by about three screws and the pot nuts.
