Ampeg BA-115 V2

Hey. Welcome to TalkBass.I'm thinking of buying a Ampeg Ba-115 v2, can anybody give me some inside information?
It will be my first amp, and it's just in my price range. I will be playing the Yamaha bb234 on it.
How does the amp feel, and what's your overall opinion?

I have a V1 of that combo. It is well built and very solid. The sound quality is definitely an Ampeg sound.

I bought the BA-108 v2 amp for practice. When it came time for a 15" driver, I bought a Fender Rumble 200 v3 combo. It was 13 lbs lighter than the BA-115, and I just liked the way it sounded over the BA. No regrets.
From a sonic perspective, I wouldn't have regretted the BA-115 either, but my mostly recovered L3-L4 herniated disk thanks me every time I have to move the amp.
The BA-115 has that great 60° wedge if you rotate the cab to its left side. That "sounds" nice, but it doesn't decouple the amp. I use a Mud Stand for Bass for that. No need for the wedge cut on the Ampeg. I also have an Auralex GRAMMA v2 decoupling pad that would handle the BA in monitor position easily.

It is not gig-gable with a reasonably loud band. It sounds great up until then and I like the selector switch...but the amp is woefully under powered IMO. I just made a thread about it 6 weeks ago or so. It also has sort of the ampeg baked in rock tone, so if you are going for modern, or clean or want something for distortion, this is not for you IMO.
The GK MB112 sounded deeper and louder to me by alot, and you can add a second powered 12,...killer setup to play almost anywhere.

Do you have the 2x 112 MB rig? I’ve been considering replacing my Rumble rig with that....
No, but I tired the single and with the extension at a GC and was very impressed. Great tone, super light. modular and 2 cabs is enough to play almost anywhere. I want to trade in all my amps and gear and just go for this simple solution. Easier said than done though.
I’m running 2x 100 Rumbles, rarely run both though. So still a 112 or 212 option, but with a little more headroom, clarity and punch (is what I’m imagining). I tried a 112 in store as well, and really liked it a lot. They didn’t have the MBP extension to try though
I tried the Rumbles and they sounded good to me, but just not with the beef of the GK. I think the quality of the speaker is noticeable, so I can get on board with your thoughts.
