Ampeg ba115 v2 passive active question

Hey guys, I read through some older posts on this but I kinda hope for a fine tuned answer on this particular bass and amp.

Its my first amp with an option for -15 engaged or not.

Ampeg ba115 v2

Sr505 bass

with the -15 engaged, volum 4 is like bedroom volume chill, with it disengaged.....its loud and cooooool lol.

So its fine to play it disengaged with this bass as long as its clean and such?


Maybe the Bartolini pups are just not that hot?

just fyi i just got this amp used for 175 from GC so I got 3 year warranty too, it looks and acts new..........nice to have another decent practice amp finally.

Totally fine to use the passive input with an active bass. The choice is there just in case your signal is distorting the input.

Just to agree and take it one step further, it's arguably optimal to use the passive input/option until it's proven that the pad is needed regardless of bass.

cool thanks guys, i discovered my pups are passive and my pre is active on the 505.
