People run down Ampeg a lot. I just want to say that while I've never owned any Ampeg equipment, the Ampeg that I have played in band situation has ALWAYS sounded great. I even liked the SVT 450h and the BA-500 which are often maligned, at least IME. If I had money to burn I'd get an Ampeg rig just to mess with.
But I wasn't impressed with the BA-115 for a band situation. Just not enough if you're cranking it up at all, again IME.
I have had a BA115HP for several years. It sounds decent at low to mid volumes. It can't hang in a loud band at all. Mine is for the most part is an 85 lb practice amp.
Again, it depends on your situation - for many players, a single 15 just isn't enough... I have never played in a rock band that a 115 would be enough for me to hear myself well enough over the drummer, let alone adding guitars and vocals into things... A 410 is an absolute minimum for me, but a 610, 810, or 215 are much better... *I* would have rather have "too much" than take a chance on having "not enough"...
