I'm looking to upgrade my amp. I've had a Rumble 15 for some time... I'm now looking for a quality amp that'll bring the best sound out of my bass. For me, the quality of the sound is more important than the Wattage... http://www.samash.com/webapp/wcs/st...r_-1_10052_10002_-49970201_cmCategorySA182894 My budget is $200.00 - $300.00.
That's the amp I use for bandpractice. It's really nice for the price. I giged with it at a smaller venue and it did pretty well too. Great little amp.
I got two bunk 115T's. The first one just didn't turn on. And the second one had a bad farting/hissing noise to it (like the speaker was blown or something). Not sure if I was just destined to not get that amp or what. I ended up getting a Rumble 100.
I just returned a Ampeg BA210SP for a BA115HPT and I'm already contemplating returning this one. The 210's problem was that quite a few of it's onboard effects weren't working. So I traded it for a brand new BA115HPT and now I'm getting annoyed with this amp because the cab rattles BAD. Anything volume past 2 causes it to rattle so bad you can't even enjoy playing. I had a GK Backline 112 and it was built like a tank. I'm seriously contemplating buying a GK Backline 210. In my opinion... don't buy an Ampeg combo unless you're getting a very very big discount on it.
If you want to buy an Ampeg combo get a USED one. They are cheaper and mostly made in the USA. Rocket B100R has a great sound for $300 or less used, looks cool too!
+1 the B100R or B200R are far superior. If it's good tone you're after, these are the amps you should be looking at.
I bought my BA-210SP off Craigslist for a fraction of the cost of a new one. I've owned it for 2 years now and haven't had any problems - not sure what rattles the other TBer is referring to. The combo's definitely got some punch!
i used to use a ba115....i hated it. i would suggest saving your money and buying a rig. GK stuff seems to be a little cheaper (price wise), but i think its some of the best sounding equipment. i went with the 700rbII for an amp and im never lookin back
wow a lot of bad reviews... guess i probably wont get it, which is too bad considering it's marked down nearly 50%... can someone post some links? I couldn't find any of the used amps on craiglist. also, If i decide to go to samash, would they let me test their amps? I've actually never been to samash (I've ordered everything online). How does that work?
Very surprising... I'm about to buy a BA115T used too. Those who say that they hated it, can you explain why? What should I check on the amp before buying it?
i went to Guitar Center yesterday and today. I tried both the Ampeg 115 and the Rumble 100. to be honest, neither caught enough of my interest, good thing i tried them out first. However, I tried another amp, this time the Acoustic B200 (I originally thought it was an Ampeg 200). Anyhow, it was the best one out of all of them. Can someone tell me whether they prefer the Ampeg B200 or the Acoustic B200? The Guitar Center that I went to didn't have the Ampeg B200, but they had the Acoustic B200 for $350.00 and a little B20 for $120.00.
Animal Mother, I can't tell you much, but when I tried the BA115, there wasn't anything special about it. The Acoustic B200 definately had a punch to it though...
The BA115 I have used has a nasty hiss and sounds cheap. I like the Acoustic B200 so much better. I think it's the best combo in it's class in that price range. It's so loud it rattles the plates in my kitchen cupboards.
Also, my last question for now is if there's a catch with the B200. It's awesome, yet it's pretty inexpensive. I'm not sure whether I want 100 W or 200 W yet....
I use a BA115T at church and it sounds nice & fat. Especially with my Zon TJ-6 or my Smith BSR6. Very nice, warm, fat amp.
