Ampeg ba210 v2,anybody have a review ?

I love my BA210v2.
If no one has mentioned it, it only runs about 283 Watts by itself. But when you plug an 8 ohm extension cab into it, then its running the full 450 Watts.

I have an SVT12HE cabinet for an extension, and it fits perfectly under it. More than enough for any bar gig, even with a loud'ish drummer.

Just tested the BA210 at the music store. Sounds great but does anybody find the cooling fan a little loud or was the floor model possibly defective. Thanks

Mine is virtually silent.

Same here. I've not noticed the fan at all and have done a half dozen shows with it so far.

I thought it was a little strange because it was really noticeable so I also tested the BA115 which ran normally as it should. Thanks guys. Wish there was another music shop in my area with that model to test out.

And it is the V2 model you guys have right? Ringhammer / filmtex

Yep, mines the BA210 V2 model. I bought it new about 2-3 years ago.

I just picked up a used one of these at a local music shop, works great so far, can't decide what cab to get tho. My only complaint about it really is that when the horn/tweeter is on I hear a bit of a hiss, but if I just mute the horn I don't hear anything, I have a feeling its not unusual for a horn to hiss a bit.

Hello all, I picked up an Ampeg BA-210v2 last weekend for a great price. I know it needs an HF driver, but I'm also considering upgrading the speakers. Does anyone here have recommendations for great replacements for stock Ampeg speakers? I'd like to retain that Ampeg old-school feel but maybe go with a couple of Eminence Neodymium (or similar) speakers to help reduce the overall weight of the combo.

Also (please hear me out), along with weight reduction, I'm looking at extracting the full 450 watts from the head without having to lug around an external cab. I was reading the owner's manual yesterday, and the wiring diagram is pretty straightforward as pictured below. If I keep the parallel wiring and common ground in place, but swap out the stock 16-ohm speakers with 8-ohm speakers, I will have a combined four-ohm load. I would also need to ensure that the replacement speakers can handle at least 225 watts RMS. To keep the mod from getting blown up by someone unaware of my tinkering, I'd remove the external speaker jack from the power panel at the rear of the combo, tape off the metal jack, and zip-tie the assembly securely to the wiring harness inside the head compartment of the cab (I'll ensure it is still grounded properly). Then I'd fill in the rear panel hole with a rubber or aluminum plug. I'd also keep the original speakers around if I decide to sell the combo, as nothing I had done would be irreversible.
