Ampeg BA210V2 vs. RB210? Can't find info.

I have an Ampeg BA210V2 with the tilt back cab. Seems like these were only made for about 6 weeks or something. There's no mention of them on Ampeg's site so I'm wondering if they're considered dogs compared to the previous BA210 NON-tilt-back version.

How would this combo compare to the current RB210 in terms of tone, etc.?

Any info is welcome. Thanks in advance.

I've a BA115V2 that stays parked at the band's rehearsal area.

I run a Jazz into a Sansamp BDDI V1 in front of the Ampeg's preamp, it's set for a clean mids boost. LOVE that combinations sound/tone. The only reason I don't gig with that combination is it's weight.

I've light weight class D heads and light weight Neo driver loaded cabs for playing out. At the jobs I try to replicate what I hear with the 115V2/Sansamp while using the D amps and the Neo cabs!

I'd suggest your taking your bass, any effects you may use, your 210V2 to a brick and mortar G.C. that has the RB series of amps on the floor and A/B them side by side.

If your ears like the RB sound, go with one.....but keep and park your V2, use the RB for playing out.

I have/had various combos of both generations (BA and RB) in find them quite different.

The RB are obviously much lighter as they are class D with lighter drivers but they are also more fragile. Sound wise, they are sweet with that vintage Ampeg "colored" sound but they cut less in the mix.

The BA are heavy but much more robust and able to withstand abuse. They seem to be built to last forever. The sound is more neutral, punchier, cuts in the mix better and more "expressive" with various types of basses.

If I was to carry it every week though, the RB would be my go to.

Agree, RB has more bake in vintage Ampeg voice ( especially RB115 sound quite close to Filp top/B15 kind of sound ) , better match with P and PJ bass than jazz bass.

Quite easy to get SVT-ist and B15-ist tone via two different preamp pedal myself. Joyo Tidal Wave for B15 thing ( Pbass with Ti flat and La bella flat ) , Caline Wine Cellar +JOyo R28 for aggressive SVT thing (Pbass and PJ bass with EB Cobalt flat ). FUN !

( Just skip the Solar finger pedal, that only for my ibanez multiscale bass to create Darkglass like distortion. )
