Ampeg Classic vs SCR-DI

Yeah, I'd hold onto the M81. I might pick another one up at some point.

I use the Ampeg Classic. Love the tone and how it plays with other pedals (not counting OD, since preamps talk to each other--working on signal chain adjustments to see if that helps.) As far as DI goes, I haven't done this yet (no gigs due to COVID) but the plan is to use a transparent DI like the Radial PRO48. Tone-wise, I'd be getting the Ampeg and a non-EQed DI to FOH. FWIW, YMMV, etc.
That's what I'm looking to do.
I have an Ampeg Classic on the way from CA.
I'll use that and the transparent DI from my M81 if I need it.

Got this guy in the other day and spent the morning figuring it out.
I really like the sound. It adds some much needed warm to my Roland Street Cube EX.
I'll use it with the M81 if I need DI.

Nice! How is the noise level of the Classic?
Thanks!
I doesn't seem too bad for what I'm using it for:
To warm up the boxiness on a 25 watt portable PA speaker that i use as a battery powered bass amp.
Also, I leave the low, mid and high knobs at noon, put the volume at around 2:00 have the ultra low button on and the ultra high off.
Im really only boosting bass signals so the hiss is not really too present.

I have the Scrambler DI and the classic. I also have the scrambler as a separate pedal. On my main pedalboard I use the Classic and a Radial JDI. The Scrambler goes on if I need it.

I use the Scrambler DI as a backup, and specifically if I'm using a backline amp to give it some attitude or Roundness.

I also use the Scrambler DI to practice too.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I'm in the exact situation...

I love my SCR-DI but I need a smaller preamp to pair with my HX Effects (which also runs the Zeroamp model based on Tech21 Bass Driver DI v1). I'd like to add the Ampeg sound to this setup. The HX Effects has the Scrambler model and I have a DI. The SCR-DI doesn't fit on my small pedalboard anyway.

So I will use my SCR-DI for headphones practice and ampless minimal rig (fits nicely in my gigbag and works out of a 9v battery). And I would like to use the Classic + HX Effects for ampless full rig.

The SCR-DI has something on the circuit to go direct to FOH (not a cab sim but FOH friendly). Does the Classic has the same circuit? In other words, does the Classic sound identical to the SCR-DI (without the Scrambler circuit on)?

Bump, hoping for an answer to this as well.
