Ampeg Combo I am looking at.

Truth be told some of that Peavy stuff is not bad either.. I played through a Peavy 110 combo a few months ago that just blew me away.. It was being used as a monitor basically but as small as it was I could get all the umph I needed out of it to hear myself and this was with an orchestra and a full band. Little tiny thing.

Before you buy the BA115, I would suggest you at least audition the BA112.

Yeah, it's smaller, has less wattage, but 1. It's almost as loud as the BA115 2. It's cheaper than the BA115 3. It doesn't have a hissy tweeter that often gets unhooked like the BA115 4. It's lighter than the BA115 5. It is easily the best sounding of the BA series, by a long shot.

Don't get me wrong, I like the BA115 and the BA series in general (my main gigging rig for years and years is an older BA210 and I love it to death), but the BA112 just fits the "grab and go" niche so perfectly, and the tone is SMOKING GOOD, up there with the esteemed Rocket series of bass amps IMO.

Good luck with the hunt, and I will say with the new V2 (Version 2) of the BA series hitting the stores soon there are deals to be had on the original BA series.

Also I will suggest emailing Musicians Friend at [email protected] and asking for the talkbass discount. It's how I buy all my new gear. No affiliation, just a happy customer.

When I was thinking of buying a BA112, I went to show where the bass player was using one. I was impressed enough to buy one. I sold it for the wrong reasons. the gent that bought likes it a bunch.

You might want to seriously consider the outgoing Fender Rumble 150 Combo. It is being closed out at a bargin basement price of just $250 shipped from Sweetwater.

It enjoys a well earned reputation for reliability along with great sound. It has also been the very best selling bass combo on the planet for the past 3 years. It's being replaced by the new version 3 Rumble 200.

Wow, looking online at the fender rumble 150 I'm getting reported weights anywhere from 55 to 93 lbs. Okay looking around more its probably more like 55-60lbs.

For a little more money with more power a carvin is ~30lbs, about the same price with tons more power a genz benz contour runs 46lbs. I guess it all depends on what you need. Having done a lot of recent research it seems like the sweet spot for power, expandability and weight in a combo you'll need to pay in the 300usd range new.

I do see a local craigslist fender rumble 150 for 175usd.

I'll throw out what some other have said, its not about the BA115, but grab a B100 or 50R if you can. Awesome little combos and are powerful. I cant use my 50R for my band, but I love it in my room. Such a sweet combo. Works for some in a live setting with a DI box and FOH support.

Any idea where the Fender is made? I like the Carvin but like the price of the Fender.

I've had a BA115 for 10 or so years now and it's a great practice amp. I'm looking for something light and I still can move it.
It did blow the power transistors awhile ago and I had an Electronic shop repair it.
I must use it a minimum of 7 hours a week, so it has a lot of time on it.Good cheap sorta lightweight amp, It's just not loud enough for a small gym or union hall
