Ampeg Heritage 50th Anniversary SVT issue

I'm curious which tech you like over there.

I'm planning to take my 2 np to get inspected, probably either to Bob Dixon at Amphole in Burbank or Mike Franscichini at Classic Amp Repair, in the building with Reliable Hardware Co. on Vanowen.

I think Robert at Amphole and Mike at Classic Amp Repair are both very good amp amp techs, honest, and have decades of repair experience. Robert charges more for his time ($100/hr) and has a longer turn around (about 4 wks.). Mike is generally less expensive and quicker turnaround.

For the repair/modification of my SVT to get rid of buzz, discussed above, electronics tech Steve Selberg at Center Staging in Burbank did the work and was great to deal with. Steve's knowledge of SVTs is especially deep.

I believe the VR had the same exact problem.

Here is a thread that discuss one possible solution. Ampeg SVT-VR preamp hum solution (final)

Another possible solution is fabricating and installing a shield on the standby switch.

This is documented in at least two threads on music-electronics-forum.com but unfortunately something appears to be wrong with their security certificates so my computer is warning me the site is not secure...so I am not willing to view the threads.

I had to open their site... for another search about other gear I own (tube tape deck)... and nothing bad happened! However, like you said, they MUST renew their certificate :)
