Ampeg Heritage Line

Hey everyone,

Ryan from Ampeg here. We will launch the new product websites either late weds or early thurs. I will also be at the show, taking pics of the gear and updating using Twitter. If that's something you're into, you can get our updates by following @AmpegUSA.

I am so stoked and happy to hear this great news! I'm hoping this new U.S. line, even if limited to boutique level production for now, finds success. It sure sounds awful good so far! I'm also hoping that it helps to restore some of the intangibles associated with the Ampeg brand name that many, many, Ampeg lovers feel was lost when U.S. production stopped. I'm not starting any political arguments, nor rehashing global manufacturing basics 101. I'm just saying that intangibles are the feelings that consumers associate with particular brand names, and here I think the Ampeg name can recover greatly; especially with a premium line, reclaiming it's U.S. origins for the brand. It'll also help to put a shine on the rest of their product line no matter where the current LOUD brass decides to make things on a global scale. Now my main problem will be having an enormous case of g.a.s. for one of these new SVT rigs. I am a happy boy indeed over this news.

right on...and we'll be watching your every move, too :ninja:

:D

so tom, killer article. i thought pyotr would have had a little more dirt to spill, but i thought he was fairly honest. he wasn't exactly forthcoming with the info about problems at the beginning, but he did answer the concerns and he makes a good case for ampeg and i'm starting to buy into it.

the interview with the svt inventors was great. there isn't so much on the record with them, so that's always fascinating. didn't like what they had to say about 6146's but since i'm not pushing mine to keith richards levels, what do i care?

but my favorite was them dissecting your 74. 5 out of 5 for reliability...what have i been sayin'??? i really loved seeing how the controls work on it, and it kind of confirmed a lot of thoughts about mine when i did that thread about getting near flat out of it by ear. i think he didn't try my settings, though ;) i only remember the first channel settings off the top of my head, but they were all switches off, bass on 11:00, treble 1:30, mids 2:30-3:00 at 800. i'd like to see what you get with that on a scope. oh well, maybe next time you guys review an svt.

thanks very much for putting out your mag. there really is nothing like it out there, and it's very well done and written in an interesting way. i'll be popping for a subscription when this issue comes to hard copy.

Thanks, Jimmy! I appreciate your kind words. I'll check with Tom Lees about your "flat" settings. I had forwarded your thread to him, so I thought that he did try your settings. That's my particular amp, so I'll give your settings and his a try when I get back from NAMM.

Anybody know where these will be built?
my question would be whether or not they will be able to assemble a team.....sometimes getting the right guys in the right places takes some time, and when production went off shore i'd bet that a lot of key people moved on,retired,etc.....on the other hand companies dedicated to building quality gear in the usa is a good thing and i wish them well
