Ampeg Heritage Line

my question would be whether or not they will be able to assemble a team.....sometimes getting the right guys in the right places takes some time, and when production went off shore i'd bet that a lot of key people moved on,retired,etc.....on the other hand companies dedicated to building quality gear in the usa is a good thing and i wish them well

I believe the custom shop team is building these.

I was really interested in this amp before I saw the 5 Way Selector Mid knob. Gotta have those rocker switches. There's definitely merit in hand-wired amps with quality tubes and transformers, but I dished out a ton of money retubing my old SVTCL with JJ KT88's and preamp tubes and was extremely underwhelmed.

I probably won't follow this thread any further. I think it's great that ampeg products will be made in the US. But, I'd really like ampeg to keep putting out the svt-vr as it's flagship head with an 8x10 cab that has a more agressive sound, like the old cabs or the modded ones like john and I use. (with the mod 10 jensens) This should be their main focus and then, maybe make some smaller versions or really get into the class D and neo gear. More of the same will not sell, even if they charge more for it. Maybe Im just tired. Maybe Im sick of playing my 70's svt into my modded cab, and then playing other guys modern ampeg rigs and being totally under whelmed. Focus guys!

Let me also say that I have owned or played every modern ampeg in the past. I gigged the crap out of an svt-4 pro for years, owned all the preamps, several other heads and most of the cabs. I finally got sick of not cutting through a band or having a really solid sound. I then played an ashdown abm500 for several years and was very happy. I now go to the board only but, do own a vintage svt and modded cab. If my other ampeg gear would have sounded like the svt or svt-vr, I never would have stopped using ampeg. I still would have opted out for a better cab than the modern 8x10. SO MUDDY!

well the cl won't be their only product. it's just the first one they announce. however, as you know i totally agree about the sound of the cabs these days. that really needs to improve imho.

Just double checking, but when you say modified with the Jensen Mod 10's, you're just popping the MOD 10s (50 or 70?) into the normal 8x10 cabs? And how's that sound?

it's the mod 50's. they're one of the few 32 ohm 10"s you can get now, they're dirt cheap, and they seem to have a lot of design similarities with the earlier 810 speakers. these guys replaced 2 or 4 of the stock eminences with the mods so they get the low end extension of the new speakers but some brightness that the stocks don't have. can't say how they sound personally but everyone's happy with them.
