considering my stage b-15 rig is with a cab from vintage blue with an optional extension cab from fliptops...And for Jimmy M,
If there was a startup company that had an exact, true to the original B-15, would you buy it, even if it didn't say Ampeg on the front?
How important is it to you that a B-15 from the era that you love comes from a company that calls itself Ampeg?
Well, that did not impress me. He wasn't very well spoken, bad lighting,a blank screen in the background?and absolutly no umph, in the presentation. Hope they sound good.
There's an awful lot of talk about b-15's on this thread and I can't tell if that's because Ampeg is supposed to be offering a reissue b-15 or if you guys are just wishing that they would.
Can someone please clarify?
But Loud should never forget that as a company, they already had in their hands what they want to do now, they pi$$ed it away, and they never even realized it.
The "Heritage" stuff is a bit amusing to some of us.........
What's most interesting about the "Heritage line" that will be made in the US is that Loud HAD the ability to do that when they bought SLM.
They could have been quality guys, supporting their old products, and producing cool new products. They OWNED NOS Ampeg parts, NOS US tubes, and other things which NOBODY will EVER have access to again. They had experienced assembly workers who really wanted to build the best and coolest stuff. They had probably the best service department in the US MI biz.
And what did Loud do with this irreplaceable setup? They dumpstered the parts and fired the workers.
They could have had the "heritage line" AND maybe a "custom shop" type operation, in operation 4 or 5 years ago, and would been already profiting from it. Yes, it WOULD have sold, at lower prices than they are proposing....it would have been less costly to keep what they already owned, than to start from scratch.
I hope they can make it work. I don't have anything against the present crew, unless they manage to mess it up again (and that is perfectly possible). What's done is done, and maybe it was time. I think SLM had Ampeg longer than any single management entity since Everett Hull.

honestly jim, i couldn't care less which way it wasAre the later Loud products more reliable than the early units?
That would show progress.
Mr. M - While it is good that these cabinets sound better, there is no evidence to support that it was by design; could have just been an accident. If it was by design one would think the factory would have advertised it as such.

Just occured to me that my previous rant might be misconstrued.
I was referring to the official 2010 NAMM press release:
