Ampeg HLF or PN-115 + PN-210

Good for you- some ppl DO love 'em. I ain't one of those. Well I thought it was OK until I tried a Bergantino NV610, & then ANY other Berg cab. Seemed to have FAR more definition- without sounding sterile.
In saying that, I Like the Ampeg 810 cab LOTS & also their new PF115 & PF210 are great too. Haven't tried the PN series-sadly.
The other thing I didn't like re the 410HLF was its SHAPE & weight- even tho the NV610 I got after I got the 410HLF, weighed the same, it was far easier to move. The SQUAT-ness & the angle you have to roll the HLF at -to me was a pain.....
Was far easier to me to roll & TILT & slide the NV610 or for that matter, I find the Ampeg 810 much easier to move than the 410HLF.
Each to their own tho.
& My comment above still stands. Get either the 410HLF(if that floats yr boat) OR 2 matching PN cabs

After my 90s trace Elliot 410 I've found the 410hlf alot more easier to move,I would of loved to Have brought a 810e but there just to big:( I'm about to do 3 arena dates supporting meatloaf so I'm takin my Mesa 400+&my TE 410 so I can biamp it or just have as standby backup rig! so lookin forward to see what the svt cl 410 hlf can do on stadium stage volume setting!

I haven't got the NV610 anymore sadly, too much for 1. My bad back & 2. My volume needs.
The cab sounds utterly fantastic, the speakers being 'offset' didn't bother me in the slightest.
I did notice SO MUCH more clarity between that & the 410HLF tho, so much so that all the ppl in the bands thought my playing had improved! :)
This even tho the NV has no tweeter.

I know what you mean about the HLF...huge bottom end, sometimes a little muddy but very powerful and rated at 4 ohms. I use a P-Bass so i am unsure whether i keep the HLF or look at different options. ie: 210 plus a 115. I don't want a 410 and a 115. I don't need that size. Or i just got for a PN-410 which is lighter in weight and a little less boomy on the bottom end compared to the HLF. Mind you a 610 would be nice, but again bigger in size :-)

Hate isn't the word I'd use for the 410HLF. I just don't like cabs that go that low. Other people do and there's nothing wrong with that, but I prefer cabs that are more rolled off on the lows.

Well lately I'm experiencing the same with my 410HLF Heritage. It brings out a nice sound but the fact that its going seriously low starts to annoy me.

So I'm currently thinking of selling my Heritage and buy a Pro Neo 410HLF.
Any opinions ?

(And yes, I revived this thread, sorry about it xD)

I know TBer Tom Bowlus did a review of the PN-410 and 7PRO in bass gear magazine which you can access here. Just look up his username and I'm pretty sure there's a link. Not sure what issue though.

I just got a pro neo 115 and I like it so far...wouldn't thrill me if I was a jazz player but works great for sludge and grind. Question: if the low range of a cab irks you, isn't that what eq's are for? Or does that property of a speaker still affect your tone even if you rolled off the lows coming out of your amp?
