Ampeg news......

Boy is that the truth. As I said, I am so ambivalent and "on the fence" with this stuff, that positive experiences, even in an anonymous forum like this, are enough to drive me into the other company's show room. It only take a little.

This is part of the reason behind the love/hate relationship businesses have with instant social media. Word travels fast (whether positive or negative).
Wow, wait till word gets out that someone from Ampeg said that people on Talkbass like to gossip like ladies at a sewing circle! Even though pretty much everyone in the free world agrees with them, it could cause 2 or 3 people who were pretending to want to buy an Ampeg amp to pretend to never buy one again!

anonymous person/moniker - Good Point. Many if not most TBers are anonymous. Only a few of us TBers use our real names and location. I wish all TBers used their real name because some of the moniker/handles are kinda silly (not yours) but what is you name?

EDIT: Hi pfschim, hey slap5string made a good point - what is you name? It’s nice to know who is addressing me. Thanks

EDIT, EDIT: maybe “bashing” wasn’t the best word but for the lack of a better word at the time that’s what I used - and I understand your point but dang you guys are hard on them.
If I had to use my real name, I wouldn't post here. I don't use my real name on forums, period.

The guys that that post offended would probably go home crying everyday if they worked where I work. I didn't find anything about that post remotely offensive. It was humorous and pretty much dead on the money.

I, for sure, will never buy an SVT again... mine still works great after all these years why the he@# would I buy a new one! :D

Wow. Looks like I should have kept up with the thread once I clocked out for the day.

I seriously apologize if I offended anybody with the Pulp Fiction quote. While I don't always have time to get into all Ampeg-related conversations on Talkbass, I do keep up and maybe got too comfortable. I was just cracking a joke like I would with any friend. But, you're right, I can understand how that could easily be misconstrued as dismissive. I assure you this was not my intent

I have mentioned in the past that my name is Ryan and manage Ampeg's social media and also write all the copy (website, catalog descriptions, ads, etc.). I've been working for Ampeg for almost 6 years now. Started out in tech support and got into marketing.

We absolutely respect the Talkbass community and know that you guys are a not only our core customers, but also influence tons of other bassists.

Pretty classy, Ryan. Way more classy than you got from the painfully thin-skinned on here. To be offended at that, you'd really really really have to want to be offended. It's as if they revel in being offended. This ain't like Emperor cabs saying "**** Jim Marshall" 10 seconds after he dies, you know?

BTW, I have known Ryan for a couple years now, and far from being some anonymous "suit" in the corporate rat race, he is a good guy who loves music and musicians, and unlike some of you, he has a good sense of humor.

The ability to laugh at yourself is a good thing. Don't take yourselves so darn seriously all the time...it only leads to being a miserable old fart.
