To the OP: My advice is to go down to a large music store, sit down with your favorite bass, and a cab most like the one you use at home. Then plug in a G-K2001RB, a Genz-Bens 1200, an Eden WT800, Ampeg (2,4,6,8, CL, VT) whatever try them all, and a mesa boogie big block titan V-12 or a used 400+ (if there is one there) and then decide to get what sounds the best to you and that you can identify with as being your sound. Everyone has different opinions and what works for them. Letting/giving them a reason to argue about it on here is not very productive (I mean come on guys, this is TB not YB or AB), you saying it is this way and only this way isn't going to sway anyone else in your direction, and a few people that read your posts might think, wow is that guy ever an @$$.
BTW, realdeal, I have a question for you, before you whip out your "equipment" and try to measure it. If one company was superior to every other company out there in every way. Wouldn't there only be 1 company to buy from, since everyone would buy all their gear from them and be completely satisfied with it? Wouldn't the one amp they make have 10,000 watts RMS @ 8 Ohms, be pure tube on channel a, SS tone on channel b, complete EQ to do everything you want, built in compressor, tuner, and every imaginable effect and still weigh only 10 pounds?
I have Just my $0.02. Cheers.
