Ampeg or Eden??

"Fanboi"
As in, say like a WORKING PRO (I've heard RealDeal, he's funkier than slime)
who uses a tool of the trade (as opposed to another kinda - "TOOL")
and counter-posts to brilliant statements like "duhhh, dey sounds like MUDD...duhhh"
and "not enuff Volume, ME Big rokstar!"

Ya know, that kinda erudite posting.

Yeah, "fanboi"
right.:eyebrow:

Easy big guy! Babbling means little!

Personally I'm definitley a "Fanboi" of Ampeg-
And I'll also put my creds and giglist WITH my 'Pegs against anyone who wants to compare notes....about where we've been and what we've done...
Not a challenge, just a fact. Ya know?

Have you owned either and had to deal with there Customer Service?

Other than their all tube heads, I wouldn't waste my money on an Ampeg head - and I've played PLENTY of them over the years on provided backlines(unfortunately) - under-powered, over-priced pieces of crap are the most accurate description I can come up with... As for their customer service - I've had dealings with LOUD, and it wasn't good at all...

In regards to Eden - I've also played a few of them over the years, and although they sounded very good to my ears, I've personally seen a few crap out - and their reputation for customer service speaks for itself...

Spin it any way you want, but that's how I see it...

LOL,
If you say so, then I guess it's gotta be, huh?

I'll have my memory erased, of how I sound and enjoy my equipment. ANd use it succesfully EVERY weekend (MY backline, I own it)- and have, beginning my 2nd year as a House Band; 350-seat club, R&B at considerable volume, band/audience members very pleased with the Bass tone and presence...Hey...maybe it's cause I pay 'em??!:D)
NAAAAAH! It's cause it sounds real good-
(oh what a fanboi I am!)

Thanks for the epiphany; because of you, I now am aware of Ampegs worthlessness! WHAT was I thinking??

I'll stick with what I said:

"As for the OP: neither - Genz-Benz, G-K, and Mesa all make a better product with honest power ratings, reliability, and excellent customer service "

Sorry if you don't like it...

"As for the OP: neither - Genz-Benz, G-K, and Mesa all make a better product, realizing this is ONLY my opinion FWIW, with honest power ratings, reliability, and excellent customer service , all of which are irrelevant if a player is satisified with the performance parameters they've been getting for years with Ampeg or Eden, as many have, PLUS both Ampeg and Eden have unique voicings and tonal characteristics, which, if a player's style and taste and approach lend themselves to, are the best choices for that player-Depending oh his/her instrument, their style, their abilities, and their opinions-All of which (except abilities) are subjective- So terms like "fanboi" are really senseless, and illustrate the lack of solid communication skills and real-world playing experience, as well as good manners in general"

There, I fixed it for you.
Sorry if YOU don't like it.:D

Woah, a lot of emotions are coming out here about people's gear!!

Everyone's got their opinions and noone's going to change anyone else's.

Just remember that it's all a matter of subjectivity - AND keep in mind that Markbass is the way of the future - small, light mega loud and super clean ;)

LMAO Real Deal!

fanboi...
:hiding:

oh and btw i play everything man..i m not just a rock bassist but try many bands and different experiments u know/

works for reggae- rock- can dial in slap well- run wacky effects- etc. ive played ampeg- and theyre nice- but- as has been said- more rock/metal-oriented. having played aguilar- ampeg- eden- glockenklang- and probably a couple ive forgotten- i went with eden. its a great balance of versatility and price- cant go wrong.

that said- i need to take my navigator in for service- minor static- not bad for 8 or so years. you gotta get (a) matching cab(s) though.

I have an Eden and will never own anything else after the great experiences I have had with them! but its unfair for me as they where started in my home state so I have had Lots of exposure from the start (I still remember when I first started playing how bad I wanted one)

the only down side is they are kinda pricey but so is Ampeg. either way your going to be getting something good with both brands (its just apples to oranges)

I think popular opinion & mob mentality can have a potential to sway a brands popularity or demise. At least within a smaller group.

I think at times TB is akin to the fashion world. Where trends come & go. Right now the trend is for markbass. Now that LOUD has taken over Ampeg, everyone thinks they are on their downward spiral.

I remember just a few years ago a conversation this would rarely happen when talking about Ampeg. At first, the SVT 3 Pro was considered underpowered. All of a sudden now its the SVT 4 Pro is too. Maybe if we wait long enough the SVT 8 Pro will be considered underpowered like the rest of their line.

Hey, whatever it takes to make you feel better, I suppose...

One thing's for sure - most Ampeg threads are sure to bring about a hissy fit towards anyone daring enough to take a poke at their fanboi's pride and joy...

As for the OP: neither - Genz-Benz, G-K, and Mesa all make a better product with honest power ratings, reliability, and excellent customer service - can't say that about either Ampeg or Eden...

Have you seen the reactions of the Edenites to any criticism of Eden gear? :D

Oh, and anyone who thinks they're getting an uncoloured representation of their instrument's tone out of either an Ampeg or an Eden rig is fooling themself. ;)

Changing other people's quotes to suit your own agenda is the ultimate in lame.

WRONG!!
(See below)
That's the ultimate in lame (...points at drummer during break!!:D That was classic!)

Pity this-
Opinions are like ***holes-
There's lots of 'em.
State your opinion, then please fill out the questionaire:

1) Your musical style
2) Your experience performing-Where?? With who???
3) WHY this product doesn't fit YOUR needs
4) Where are you performing? How often?
5) How much of your income is derived from playing music- I.E.-
Are you a Professional, or do you bang-away in the garage?
6) Do you read music? Musicians usually have to read music.. Don't they...?
7) What, if any, is your Musical Education Background?

With those questions qualifying an "Opinion" then it might define at least a little bit more WHO's popping off...
Know what I mean?

...Didn't think so!:D

To the OP: My advice is to go down to a large music store, sit down with your favorite bass, and a cab most like the one you use at home. Then plug in a G-K2001RB, a Genz-Bens 1200, an Eden WT800, Ampeg (2,4,6,8, CL, VT) whatever try them all, and a mesa boogie big block titan V-12 or a used 400+ (if there is one there) and then decide to get what sounds the best to you and that you can identify with as being your sound. Everyone has different opinions and what works for them. Letting/giving them a reason to argue about it on here is not very productive (I mean come on guys, this is TB not YB or AB), you saying it is this way and only this way isn't going to sway anyone else in your direction, and a few people that read your posts might think, wow is that guy ever an @$$.

BTW, realdeal, I have a question for you, before you whip out your "equipment" and try to measure it. If one company was superior to every other company out there in every way. Wouldn't there only be 1 company to buy from, since everyone would buy all their gear from them and be completely satisfied with it? Wouldn't the one amp they make have 10,000 watts RMS @ 8 Ohms, be pure tube on channel a, SS tone on channel b, complete EQ to do everything you want, built in compressor, tuner, and every imaginable effect and still weigh only 10 pounds?

I have Just my $0.02. Cheers.

In regards to Eden - I've also played a few of them over the years, and although they sounded very good to my ears, I've personally seen a few crap out - and their reputation for customer service speaks for itself...

Well I dealt with customer service recently with eden.

It took a long time, but that was because the company I shipped my cab with screwed it up and lost it for a while.

I also had the head of sales, and there tech guy contact me directly to help sort out the mess.

I can say the customer service I got was better than any I have gotten for anything else I have ever bought. Never have I had and actual employee, none the less a manager call ME directly.

Here...
I'll go first:

1) R&B, Blues-based funk, Soul, Pop and Jazz
2) 20+ years playing Bass guitar, (3) tours; 2 overseas, and 39 States- Can't count how many cities and/or clubs.
3) Ampeg works just fine for me, thanks.
4) Right now, every weekend, House Band, 350-seat room,
Casino Club showroom, 3 sets per night, QUintet backing Vocals/back-ups.
5) 100 %
6) Yes, worked my A** off to get proficient at sight-reading.
Helps with finding gigs and writing/reading arrangements.
7) One year, Berklee school of music, program for Bass Guitar performance. I took a year off from working, did NOT like living on the East Coast, sorry, but it added immeasurably to what I can do with the Bass Guitar. Highly recommended.

There- YOUR turn....
