Ampeg PF20 Into Amp Head To Use As A Preamp Pedal?

Just curious if I could send an Ampeg PF-20T into the effects loop of my SWR Workingman 4004 and use it as a preamp?
I have found a PF-20 for sale for $400 Canadian price new is $749 Canadian plus tax. It seems like a good price. My hesitation is that I am having trouble justifying spending $400 on a amp head that I will only use 3 to 4 times a year we record, as 20w will be fine for recording purposes but it won't cut in a live situation, but if I could use it like a preamp pedal like the VT, BDDI, SCR-DI than it make the purchase totally worth it.

So is this possible?

Plug it in using the fx return in your solidstate AMP and you would be hearing a true tube tone. The pf20 and pf50 have outputtransformers with an extra d.i out giving you not a preamp out signal but a powertube output. So you can inject a fulltube sound into any solidstate AMP and sound like you brought two SVT stacks.
