Geez, how much did the laptop case cost? I spent $265 on my case! It's a pf115he.
well, mine was slightly cheaper.
it was given to me and my laptop melted.....sooooo now i have a new pf500 case! woohoo!
Me too. I Hate it, but the amp rattles like hell when attached to the lid...
I have a PF500/115HE in a fliptop arrangement, and had rattles/buzzes too. Have you tried tightening down all the screws on the amp ?, and I mean all of them. You will find them on:
Fliptop panel
handle
latches
metal corner pieces
caster brackets on the bottom
speaker baffle
I also got some 1/8" self adhesive small cell insulation material (usually sold for insulating windows and doors) and replaced the very wimpy strips between the fliptop panel and the cabinet.
Once I did all of this, all of the rattles and buzzing was gone.

I used 3/16 x 3/4 weatherstrip. I also tightened all boils and screws. There are also fasteners inside that hold the front logo panel panel on; don't forget those

I've found out that the only thing that rattles are radiators inside my PF-350.
I will try some insulation material between the cab and the lid but I think I;ll have to find a way to "silence" the radiators.
I have a bit of radiator rattle but can't hear it when the drums start up. I've been thinking about it and the best way would seem to use high temp silicone and dab tiny dots in the gaps on both corners and the middle perpendicular to the direction of the fins. AND I mean TINY dots. The cooling loss will be minimal if at all measurable and since we have fans it won't hurt anything but the warranty. I'll wait til my warranty is up before I crack it open. This thing just sounds too good to drop more money elsewhere.
So I was able to fire up my PF350 and double SVT210 stack at a gig for the first time. Loved it! I was a *tad disappointed with the low end. I just didn't want to crank the bass knob mid set. Maybe I'll be a little more adventurous next time. Other than that, it really seemed to have that vintage je ne sais quoi that only Ampeg has. I also love that I can fit it under my desk at home! Never could do that with my old SVT410 and 3-Pro

I have the same setup. I just purchased a PF350 last month. I love how it sounds. I don't know when I'll ever use my 810 and SVT 3Pro since my new rig is about a quarter of the weight plus it's ultra portable. Yeah I too bring up the bass knob a little bit on that rig.
Yeah - other than an outdoor gig - or the rare huge room that has no pa support, I'm not seeing why 8x10s are still "the standard"
I saw a thread earlier today where the guy was upset about the lack of power with his pf350 and (2) PF210HE, and other than heavy-rock/metal with at least 2 more guitars, I really don't see it.
I play with a loud drummer (who doesn't), three horns, guitar and keys, and I've yet had to push that amp and cab at all. Then again I'm not playing metal and don't need a scooped bass heavy sound.

I love the Ampeg sound but the trials and defects scare me, would the newer 800 be a better design, better manufacturing plant ect and a better risk than the old ones? Just a thought but maybe China is not the place to put all ones eggs, not wanting to start a flame but is the new plant maybe going to solve a lot of these issues?
Well- I personally think that no matter how you test, when you have a completely new thought like the portaflex- there will just be issues. Like my SVT210AVs - the older version A00 (I think) had crap lie holding the Rolex and I understand that Ampeg and Loud was very good about working with customers on that- also for the cut out issues on the heads.
I also know the PF 800 has the same preamp, so you're likely not to have the same issues as some did with early PF heads. Things get better over time.
Note that you don't see a lot of issues with the older SVT series and BAs

This thread was scaring me more and more, with all the bad things happening to these amps, and Lo And Behold yesterday during rehearsal it happened to my PF500, too: the fault light came on upon switching on and remained like that every time I retried, with different power cords, sockets etc.. Is there a fuse inside that can easily be replaced, or is it going to be a return job anyway...?
