I use an Aguilar Tone Hammer to go direct at my church gig so I'm looking forward to trying the PF-800 there soon through their 810 cabinet. I think my SR5 will be very happy to have a new amp!

PF800 kills through an 810e. Still plan on getting one, although it looks like now I'll have to wait till after NAMM as our AR guy is all up into NAMM business.

Hope you don't mind me jumping in here but I've run my PF350 through Aggie GS112s lots of times. Sounds great IMO. A great "coffeehouse" rig is the PF350 through one GS112. Adding the second GS112 really ups the tone.

Welp, my bassist blew the speaker in my PF-115HE. Any suggestions for a 15" speaker replacement to match with the PF-500? Not finding much out there that's 4ohm/500w.

I just run the single cab with the PF500 as a practice/backup rig to my SVT, so I'm not looking to add cabinets or anything. I just need a single 15" speaker that plays nicely.

Not that I have seen that the cab will fit and under $800 or so. That is the falling of trying to get all the watts with a single speaker. You might get closer with the Eminence 3015 and it is pretty compliant with different cab volumes or Faital's 15pr400.

Might just have to go 8ohm then. I suppose the stock speaker was 8ohm and underpowered and still loud enough, so a 500w 8ohm should do the trick, right?

Not necessarily. It's also about the box when it comes to power handling, and it always reduces power handling no matter what cab. Don't ever go by specs when it comes to power handling...go by your ears and your common sense, and if it sounds like it might explode, it will.

You can buy the purple 15"s from Ampeg. That's what the PF115he was designed for, and that's what will work best. Alternately, you can get it reconed, but it's often just as cheap to replace it.

Question on the Ampeg EQ - it seems that I have to adjust the B, M, or T controls up close to 10 or down near 0 to get noticeable changes? I'm used to my Genz Benz shuttle having very sensitive EQ control and also my Eden WT 400. Is this normal? Almost like the pots they used on the amp don't effect the tone much without large changes.

I'm definitely liking the tone and have been playing the amp & cabinet to 'find my Ampeg sound', but I was just wondering about the sensitivity of the Portaflex tone controls.

If I remember the numbers, the Edens have a greater amount of boost/cut in the tone controls than the PFs, by around 6 dB. That's enough to hear. Edens have more boost/cut than anybody (except GB apparently) which made the Navigator preamp popular. I noticed this when I switched from Eden to Ampeg.

I'd bet the Ampeg replacement is cheaper than that. Even an 8 ohm 15" should be loud enough for rehearsal at 350w unless it's full big gig gear and volume. No way any single 15" not used in a horn design will replace a fridge if you really need one.
