Would be interesting to prove if gain into clipping causes death sooner than clean gain settings at high master levels. Time may tell. ..

ive been lucky so far ... I own a pf 500 and a pf 800 and had nothing but great sound coming from these amps .... no cut outs yet ( I play in a hard rock band so the volume gets loud ! lol) .... I got the pf 800 because we have been playing in bigger places and needed the extra headroom and volume ... ive owned both amps since they first came out and run them threw a pf 210 and a pf800 cabs and have nothing but good things to say about these amps and cabs !!!

Anybody know if theres a way of disconnecting the tweeter in my cab? I'm using a PF500 with 15 inch cab. Tried searching the forums for this but can't seem to find any info... nothing on google either.
Would appreciate any info on this!

Good day friends. I managed to PF 500, great amp, I have a box 4 x 10 and 2 x 10, I need to get a good close tone to the SVT Classic, my bass is a P-Bass with flatwounds, any suggestions about some SETTINGS, is welcome.

Anything near noon, no ultra high or ultra low. Try light mid boost, mid selector set on 2nd position.
There are so many variations of the SVT sound that a question like yours is impossible to answer without more background. Favorite bands and bassists, for one.
You're right, I forgot to give more details, I like Rogers Waters, Je Osborn, Tim Commerford, Pino Palladino, Steve Harris ....... some of them do not use P-bass, I really like this amp, I played with the since arriving a week ago, and indeed have not found a bad sound, most of the settings, they sound great to me.
My cover band is composed of two guitarists with Marshall equipment and boxes 4 x 12, and based on the style of music we do, I think I need a punchy sound, technique using fingers and pua, perhaps still needs to be more timely thanks again to all.

What I would do is set everything to noon except treble, where I usually set it to anywhere from 9:00 to 11:00 depending on which cabs I use. I might also give the bass a slight boost as well. Generally that should get you at least pointed in the direction of some of those guys, though for Tim or Steve, you might want to use more treble and midrange set at 800hz.
What I do is adjust my amps until I get a sound I like without any consideration, or comparison to anyone else. The sounds you hear on a recording made by any other person through a stereo system really has little relation to playing your bass through your gear with a band, (unless you are in some kind of "tribute band", I suppose). Use your ears, and fiddle with the controls until you are happy. With all the variables involved, any settings someone may suggest, are pretty much meaningless.

I agree to start at noon no boost buttons. I like playing with 800hz. Cutting give you one classic ampeg sound and goosing it gives you another, my personal preference.

Yeah, that's where I end up for rock: bass at 11:00, treble and mid at 2:00 and 800 Hz. This lets me get real bright on the tone when I play harmonics or solo and drop back with just the tone control on the bass. Plus, that always works in FOH.
