Our equipment wasn't there but a close friend's drums were. They are almost exactly where I moved them offstage when we played last time. The building is gone, but the drums were spared. Before I moved here 10 years ago, I had no idea what a tornado could do except from The Wizard of Oz. Here is a picture of our stage now. Also I will include a link to the stage when we are playing for comparison. Just to keep this a little bit on topic, you will see the purple glow of my Ampeg PF500/PF115 behind me. If you read the description of the video, you will see why you don't see a bass guitar.

So is that lake taneycomo (sp) in the background? if so this must be downtown right?

Number me up! Bought it tonight, gigged it an hour later. The 210 and the SVT-3 PRO aren't mine.

Had issues due to no one informing me that I'd plugged into the same circuit as the lights- amp cut off twice. Additional issues when I turned up my volume when I had both cabs connected- the other guy's speaker cable was faulty, and my amp clicked loudly and stopped making noise. Overall, the poor PF500 had a hard gig tonight...but I could tell once she's in a controlled environment, she'll be amazing. My tone was effortless.

Probably wasn't the speaker cables, or the fact you were plugged in with lights. That's what mine does. You may need to have it replaced.

Just picked up a new yet 1 week used 500 for dirt cheap from a dealer no less!

I had an hour on it last night and loved it for all my rock type music but for a round clean tone I was having some problem getting the grind out.
Guitar is a Warwick Dolphin 5 with active MEC pickups, cab is a Ampeg Classic 2-10.

I tried volume full on with gain to control volume, backed off the mids a bit and just generaly played with it. Im sure its there, let me know what you think!

Edit: I looked up this thing called an owners manual, who woulda thunk it!
It appears my actives are too powerful and with -15 engaged I found the tone I was looking for!

Just the opposite. Crank the gain up to noon or more to get some grind, then Master vol to get the loudness you want and Compression to taste.

I think he's trying to get the grind out. He said he didn't have any problem getting grind.

Edit: "...and loved it for all my rock type music but for a round clean tone I was having some problem getting the grind out."

I'm curious: does anyone use a PF500 rig with a SansAmp VT Bass pedal in front? If so, what do you feel are the benefits of that setup?

I'm considering getting a VT bass to add some tone control and consistency to my sound for those occasions when I'm playing through an unfamiliar backline. I played a gig with an Aguilar DB751 + 2xDB410 cabs last week, a nice rig no doubt about that, but very different from my familiar PF500 + 2xPF210 setup. Listening to the recording from that night I feel like I ended up with a much brighter tone than I would've liked (the DB cabs have tweeters, which I usually keep off on my PF210s, and the amp felt quite aggressive). A VT Bass might've made the DI-signal going to the PA system more pleasant...

However, I'm a little hesitant as I suspect the pedal might be a little redundant when using the PF500 (which has similar tone controls and a post-eq DI). Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Thats right, I had lots of grind and not enough clean.
The 15db switch works to get the clean back and the amp is super touch sensitive, it can go from Round/smooth to grind just by your attack and if your near the bridge or neck.

Very responsive amp, looking forward to our jam night!

I owned a VT Bass pedal before buying my PF-350. I feel it would be redundant, even more so if you own a PF-500. Just my opinion, of course.

I agree it's a little redundant, but a VT still sound good with the 500. That said, my VT did come off my board fairly soon after getting mine...

5sg.

That's what I was thinking... After all the PF500 is not too far from the sound that the VT is meant to emulate.

I think I'm gonna try with a warm overdrive, like a Pork Loin, instead. That way I can still get something different out of the pedal when I'm using my PF rig.

Also think I'll be bringing my PF500 next time, regardless of what sort of nice gear the venue might have :P. It won't exactly break my back if I take just the head, and I found myself really missing the compressor on the amp last week, even though I typically use it at a fairly low setting.

2xDB410 cabs last w

Where's Jimmy when we need him? He'd have a good answer for this q. I haven't used my VT since gigging regularly with my PF500, BUT I'm playing mostly for clean tones (upright on old jazz and electric for soul band). Plus I like a very simple setup. Sounds like the VT would add flexibility in your situation.

So you'd typically use the VT for a more dirty sound, I take it?

Some of the other effects I use are set pretty brightly, since I like to essentially use the amp/cabs to roll of the highs. It just sounds more pleasant to me that way, with the tweeters disabled.

I'm gonna try adding a Pork Loin at the end of my effects chain, as it offers more of what I'm looking for in terms of a tweakable, gritty sound to use in conjuction with my PF rig, while also having a lowpass filter to mellow out my signal at times when I'm using a different amp/cabs.
