I bought my PF500 as a recon about 7 years ago or so and I got about 5 years out of it. Somewhere along the line it became a backup and spent most of the time in the center compartment of my gig bag. Last summer we had an outdoor gig and I decided to double up my cabs and run the PF500 through them at 4 Ohms. I hooked everything up, turned on the amp, the amp lights up, but no sound at all. I just get a solid fault light. The fan doesn't kick in either, but I can't remember if that runs all the time or only when it heats up. I just tried it again with the same results. I do notice when I turn the amp on there is a quick buzz or hum then nothing but a solid fault light.
Am I looking at the infamous problems mentioned above or something completely different? Possibly being lugged around in the bag it got more rattled than I realize? We have no roadies, we carry our own and I know I don't toss my stuff around. If the problem is the board I would rather replace it myself rather than pay someone to do the work. I work with servers and am no stranger to replacing motherboards. But if the problem is caused by something getting jarred and the cost is less than a board replacement then...
So when it worked it worked well - never quit. It just failed to produce sound one day.
