AMPEG PORTAFLEX

I have the deposit down for this amp/cab unit at one of our local music shops and will be paying it off over the next 12 weeks before I bring it home. I have chosen the PF - 500 head and the PF - 115HE cab. At 8ohm I will be getting 300W out of the head.
I played this in the shop and loved the tone and the look and all.


Has anyone else here bought one of these amp/cabs and what do you think? Hoping it holds up with live gigging.

I have a PF350 and used to have two PF115he's. Sweet rig. I'm not the loudest bass player on earth but it could rip when needed.

Had that same rig for a while. Sounded excellent. On tour, the cab got beat up pretty easily, and the latches on the lid seemed to loosen a bit over time. Also had the head blow up mid-tour once and had to get an entire new board thrown in it, but that was on Ampeg, as I had one of the first run of them that apparently had some issues that have been resolved now.

I'd recommend it, especially for the price. The plus is how good they sound and how portable they are, but the flipside of that is that they won't stand up to the loads and unloads quite like the Classic cabs do.

Ya, definitely get covers for the cabs. The black diamond looks awesome but can scratch pretty easily.
