Ampeg PR410HLF The Best Ampeg Cab Ever?!

IMHO . . . the best cab Ampeg ever made.

Ever! Classic 810's included . . .

56 oz. Cast frame speakers in a nuclear bomb proof, heavy cab. Fully adjustable horn, front-ported. Heaven on a bun!!!

I own one, and any reputable amp sounds like dynamite through this cab.

It may not "look" right, as in Ampeg heritage, but the sound is the best ever . . . period.

In my opinion, none of the boutique builders, and none of the production builders, have anything on this cabinet! It's a cryin shame that Ampeg no longer produces this one!

I like it better than the SVT 410HLF but I still wouldn't trade my 73 810 for anything.

I came really close to buying a used one last year, however I ended up getting a brand new SVT410HLF instead. I was gunshy at the time to buy used...a few things I bought off craigslist ended up crapping out on me immediately after I got them home. I hear they are great cabs. I am really happy with the HLF so if it sounds better than that, it must be good.

Whenever I happened to be at one of the three local GC and overheard a bass tone that I liked, I'd go see what it was and 90% of the time it was the PR410HLF (the other 10% of the time it was a Mesa-Boogie Diesel 410...

I ended up getting a PR15HLF on sale but the PR410HLF is probably the best-sounding *vented* cab Ampeg made. It's not legitimate to compare it to the *sealed* 810, though. Apples and oranges.

I've owned the SVT classic 15E, (loved it but sold it) I still own an SVT classic 410HLF which is the 2nd best bass cabinet I have or probably will ever own. I have the PR410HLF which I proudly keep at my rehearsal space it is hands down the best sounding bass cabinet ever made. I play in a music building that has 10 monthly rehearsal rooms and pretty poor sound proofing so we can all hear each other. I have to say virtually every bass player in that buidling has stopped in to check out my rig, amazed at the sound. Pretty simple, Standard American Fender Jazz, MarkBass LittleMarkII and a tech21 sansamp RBI rack going thru the Ampeg PR410HLF. My band affectionately calls it the "Death Star". I cannot get drowned out and I cannot rattle that cabinet. Nothing but clean, clear, gorgeous low end coming out of that cab and I finally messed with the horn (3:00) to the point where after 6 months it sounds better than ever. We're always searching for that sound, I have it. I also have a Schroeder 212L; great great little light 800 watt cab that I use for most gigs because I don't move the PR410. Gets a nice hi fi sound, just not as good as the Pro- but it's still great. Highly recommend it. They make a regular Schroder 212 that's 1000 watts and only 50 pounds that I may get (Bad GAS when it comes to bass cabs). Out of curiosity I just got a Berg HT322 delivered yesterday, I haven't tested it yet but I am hopeful it will compare well to the Pr410HLF. I've heard great things about it. Will let you know. As of today though, my PR410HLF is an incredible bass cab that other bass players who hear it love.
