ampeg question

if it goes to 8 ohms, i'd imagine yours can handle it.

+1

I have had a SVT-CL for years and have been considering putting it with a couple 410HE's but was concered that if I wanted to only use one of them, my 4 ohm amp wouldnt be able to handle the 8 ohm cab. So I shot an email to Ampeg, heres what they shot back:

Hi Bob,

Technically it's not recommended to run the CL at 8 ohms. Only 2 or 4. However, I've run my CL for many years now into a 410HE and never had any problems what so ever. You can usually go one impedance rating above the suggested rating but like I said, it's not the most efficient way to run it.
Hope this helps!!!! Feel free to hit me back here anytime!

yea there is a ohm switch it goes from 4 to 8 to 16

Then your model is completely safe to use any cab loads that match your recommended ohm settings.

The "dont run an SVT at 8 ohm" warnings you've seen on this forum are referring to the 300-watt all-tube SVT models.
(the rear panel ohm info on these models are all factory labeled for use at 4 or 2 ohm and dont even mention 8 ohm)

The real message of those 8 ohm warnings is to simply follow the ohm settings/conections that are printed on your particular model. (Ampeg or any other brand)
