Ampeg Rocket B100r appreciation?

I've had a pair of B100r"s since 2005. The original speaker in my oldest one has been starting to develop a bit of a voice coil dragging issue over last year or so. Yesterday I remembered that I had a good/used 4-ohm EVm-15 speaker. I swapped that speaker in place of my original and think it actually sounds much better than the original speaker in my other B100R.

I've seen a few threads here on T/B with B100R owners asking what other speakers might sound good in their combos. I played my EV-equipped B100r with my band last night and I can say for sure that the 4-ohm EVm model I substituted in mine worked and sounded awesome in my B100R.

Thought I'd revive this. The B100R has been my favorite amp for a long time. I went through a variety of other fancier names, but kept coming back to my Ampegs. Think I'm gonna be using it for the rest of my life at this point!

Anyway I was able to pick up a beat up B50R over the weekend. I've ordered a bunch of hardware to get it back to looking good again. Unfortunately on both of my B's the original purchaser left the plastic film on over the control plate, and it ain't coming off now. I tried to everything on my B100R and ended up causing more harm than good.

Mine aren't show pieces (though I wish they were), but they are work horses. Here are a couple of pics for your Rocket Bass Appreciation viewing pleasure.
