Ampeg scr-di not working with a Digitech Drop pedal

Hi, I recently purchased a used Ampeg scr-di pedal . The pedal works fine and does it's job with my bass plugged directly into it, but when I put a Digitech drop pedal in front of it , the only sound I get is humming with a bit of static. The drop pedal works fine when on my pedalboard going into my main amp (the Amped scr-di is not part of my pedalboard). I'm wondering if this is a thing with the scr-di, or if it has to be configured differently? I purchased the scr-di for occasionally practicing in my living room, rather than my studio. I intended to be able to use the aux in for music and the headphone jacks and just plug the drop pedal into it so i didn't have to re-tune my bass. Has anyone else had an issue with this?

They are both powered with ac adapters that came with them, both turn on and both work when not connected to each other. The patch cable is new, and is used on my pedalboard where the drop pedal is normally located. My signal goes through the drop pedal when it is clicked off (bypassed), but only humms when engaged. To better explain the sound, when i play the bass, you can tell i'm playing the bass, but the sound come through sounding like a muted hum.

Problem solved. It turned out to be the patch cable. They are new Donner pancake style cables. They had generally positive reviews, but after looking closer at the reviews, others were having similar problems with only certain effects pedals. I tried different pedals with the Ampeg using the Donner cable with similar results. Some would work if the cable was jiggled , others not at all. I used one of my older cables and everything worked fine with all pedals.
