Ampeg SCR-DI

I needed a direct box for a gig with an acoustic guitar player. Direct into the board and monitors only for my onstage sound. I chose this. Does anyone use this model? If so, what, if anything should I be aware of? Thank you.

I tested this out at a local store against a sansamp character VT and found it to be very nice. It was easier to dial in the Ampeg but after twisting knobs on the Sansamp it got a lot closer and I could not say I prefer one over the other but the Ampeg is quicker to dial in, has the silent practice option and is slightly cheaper than the Sansamp so I think I will go for the Ampeg first

Silent practice, haved used it to record with a signal out to the amp for a monitor...very versatile. Never really used the integrated Scrambler... I have heard the unit will go through a battery quickly, so ensure a good discreet power source.

Yep, I use it for quiet practice at home as well as when forgoing an amp live on small acoustic gigs. Works great and provides that great Ampeg tone stack. The only downside is the built-in Scrambler section is not as versatile as the stand alone Scrambler pedal.

I 100% agree that the Scrambler side is a bit weak and disappointing. I use a separate overdrive pedal instead of the built-in Scrambler. However, I really love the sound out of the preamp side.
