Ampeg SVT-3PRO problem

On the 3 PRO, the "send" does not "break" the "normal through" connection.

So if plugging into it causes the sound to disappear, than maybe there is a problem with the unit you are plugging in. Or with the cable.

Sounds like the cable may be shorted, or the unit you are plugging in has a very low impedance and is "loading" down the signal.

Are you sure you are plugging into the correct place?

ok...i just realize that this one need to be hook up in a complete loop and it works...on my other amp...i usually just feed my drum machine and stuff into the return port and it's fine...but not this head....why is that...

if you plug into the RETURN, it breaks the signal path from the preamp. You can get an OUTPUT from the "SEND" without breaking the signal path. But the RETURN jack has a switch inside that opens and allows ONLY the signal from the external unit to go to the power amp.

Some other units have that switch on the SEND, and so they can provide a crude "mix" function if you plug an external input into the RETURN. Your other units must be like that.

The SEND / RETURN is made to connect an external effect, OR to give another output. It is not intended as an additional input.

If you have the manual, the "block diagram" shows this. If you don't have the manual, I can send you a PDF version if you PM me an email address.
