Ampeg SVT-410HE Cabs.. Good? Bad? Meh??

I have read somewhere on TB that the 410HE had different power capacities ... some had 200 watt limits and some had 400 watt limits

There is an SVT 410he and there used to be a B410he. The B410he was 200w.

I own two 410he, wired parallel to 4Ohm. Nice and tight sound.

Each cab is 8 Ohm.
Never checked the drivers... (I think 32 Ohm is the "norm").

Yep, the 410he and 810e use the same 32 ohm drivers.

Found an old SVT-410HE for 325 € at a place nearby in Germany:


The serial# on the jackplate is I4HEEB0148 so I guess it's built in 1992, with 200 Watts @ 8 Ohm:

Might buy it if it sounds okay.

Used to own an OSB 410he from the 90’s. Great cab, seemingly indestructible, heavy as all heck. I regret selling it.

this is good to know. I just helped my bass player pick up a 200 watt version for $200, intended to pair with his 400 watt model. We didnt realize there were 2 models. anything we should look out for when pairing?

Well, I don't know much about tech. Before I bought it I was searching for specs but only found the one for the newer model. The features of B410HE looks quite the same as the old 410HE so it means (if I'm not wrong!):

B410HE

• Freg response (+/- 3 dB): 55Hz-18kHz
• Usable low freq (-10dB): 40Hz
• Power Handling: 200W RMS
• Impedance: 8 ohms
• Sensitivity: 95dB SPL 1w/1m
• Maximum SPL: 118dB

SVT-410HE (newer model)

• Freg response (+/- 3 dB): 60Hz-18kHz
• Usable low freq (-10dB): 43Hz
• Power Handling: 500W RMS
• Impedance: 8 ohms
• Sensitivity: 98dB SPL 1w/1m
• Maximum SPL: 122dB

So imho you could pair it as long as you don't overload the old model.
I can't pair it with my SVT-212 due to the different impedance but, as I posted, just wanted it for the practice-room. And, after 2 sessions with the band, I can proudly say, the "old aunt" is just perfect!

Seems that Yamaha stopped the production of the "half-fridges" so I'm glad that I lately bought 2 of the last series and sold the older model as well as the 212's 'cause I prefer the sound of the 410's.
