I just pre-ordered one direct from Ampeg. The release date (according to the guy at Ampeg) is now November 11th. Guitar Center site now says September 15th, which was recently changed from September 7th, which originally stated August 31st.
They took my money, so it at least feels real, even if I have to wait until November.
Since I ordered direct from Ampeg hopefully I’ll still be one of the first kids on the block with one, I’ll notify with a full report when it arrives.

Update: Guitar Center site as of today says “expected to ship 9-22-2019”. Earlier this week they changed it to 9-19-2019 from 9-15-2019. I think they are just toying with my emotions at this point!
(My guy at Guitar Center called Ampeg directly to create the order)
I've came across 13 pages of this topic now, and still a mystery to me, that 1st channel is a "blueline channel" and 2nd channel is "mid 70s channel 2". As far as I know there weren't preamp differences in vintage SVTs of all eras including MTI/Skunkworks (which even with a AX7 mods sound exactly the same to me), so what's going on with this pre and post '75 differences!?
I pretty much share your opinion about that, although I've never got to AB a 69 and 75 to hone in on differences. And I didn't get to sit down with the 50th at NAMM, but as far as I can tell from the promo, both are voiced to be more suitable for bass, and the 75 channel is slightly cleaner and more polite.
Since this SVT is only available this year and is being produced in limited numbers, there probably won't be a second chance to get one if you pass on it now. I'm tempted for this reason alone.

But I talked to Hodgy about it, and if it sells at a quick enough pace for Yamaha, they'll keep it an ongoing thing like the Heritage SVT-CL. But, they won't be actual official 50th Anniversary SVT's made this year next year, and that counts for something.
I'm ready to stop talking and start playing when it gets to me!!

There was a considerable investment in redesigning to produce this amp. Yamaha is watching the entire process to see how the production trial run of a product run will go.
I imagine that if demand is there, they will want to recoup as much as possible. The first so many produced will pay for the engineering and production effort. At the same time, the amp would be produced in batches and they have to sell. Initially there will be a peak in sales. How demand will sustain will dictate scheduling future batches.
Given the higher price, it will be harder to sell than the VR. But I think that people will like the features and be willing to shell out for it. As long as there is sufficient demand, I don’t think that they’re going to stop.
If it goes well, they may consider dropping the VR.

Well, each one is "a bit" different. You would need to get identical caps, transformers (as far as I noted those which I had opened, there were 2 or 3 manufactures used in SVTs over the 1970s - or maybe that was in V4... don't remember) & tubes to tell the difference. But the marketing for "1969" channel and "1975" channel is just wrong, from the history/schematic standpoint. The 2nd vintage SVT channel was always more cleaner, less bassy and just raw, compared to channel #1 (it really does sound for me like 70s B15N + lots of power).
