I would also add that while Mesa does have a solid history and reputation with bass amps, like other MI designers/manufacturers, their guitar focused business is likely a much larger percentage of their business overall. So while another entity might purchase them, its probable that that transaction would be more about the guitar side than the bass side.

I wonder just what the balance of guitar to bass sales are?
Their bass business has just flat out taken off.
With Ampeg laying dormant for anything new, they are now the top dog IMO.
I see their bass amps in stock in stores and on club gigs.
Certainly guitar amps was the foundation of their business but they have huge competition these days as well as a slew of tweed Fender / JTM Marshall recreations (not that there is that much difference between the two).
Their guitar amps have always been more expensive than the competition. I also don't see them that much live and with so many models, store typically only display a small percentage.

As far as Mr. Smith, we all owe him for being one of the first hot rod guitar amp designers.
I hope he has MANY more years with the company and is still having fun.
When it is time to move on, I pray that the employees can buy him out as opposed to some venture capitalist
owner.
