Ampeg SVT 7 Pro Club

Sorry to hear about that. Let us know how it goes. I am 1+ year into mine. I love it - but unfortunately its always in the back of your mind that it will blow up at any moment.
I downgraded (or I guess downsized) from a 4 Pro to a 7 Pro because of weight and my 4 Pro was acting a little funky.
I bought the 7 Pro used and I believe it has the latest revision. I run it through an SVT 810E with distortion pedals and a pretty fair amount of bass boosted and I've never had a problem. I guess I just got lucky haha
I love it cause of the amount of power and it's a great little practice amp.

I took it in to a ampeg authorized repair shop today. He says he sees a lot of these amps most with the same problem. He just replaces the main board and they are good to go. He thinks they are on rev h now. I will let you know how it turns out in two weeks.
Can someone with a 7 Pro take some measurements for me? Mine is at my practice space and I'm looking to order a rack. What is the height and depth without the feet? Ampeg lists the dimensions with the feet but I want to know if it will fit in a rack that is 3.5" high and 10.5" deep. Thanks!
The amp is 3.5" high and 10" deep so I think it should fit nicely but you will probably have to take the feet off the bottom and maybe the back of the amp.
So I just got my 7 pro back from the repair shop and I have to say it sounds awesome! Maybe even better than it did before it let out the magic smoke. I've been giging with it for four years and I always loved the tone and reliability of this amp until it blew up. So while it was in the repair shop (still under warranty) I went and got a aguilar tone hammer 500 and played a gig with it sat night and was really impressed,( and its only 4 pounds) but it just didn't have that zing I get with the 7 pro. Now I have my amp back and a great backup amp just in case.
P.S the replacement board is a rev ho1. I hope that finally fixes the problem.

Mine quit a couple of weeks ago, I bought it new in June of this year. Just got it back from the shop and the tech didn't remember what revision he put in. The amp is C00. I'll open it up tomorrow and report back. I gottsa know!!
Opened it up and found that the preamp board is RevB and the main board is Rev-H. Hope this one lasts cause I like the sound and weight of this baby!!

Mine smoked with a month left on the 5 yr warranty. Whew! Worked great for a good long time right up till when it didn't.
Stories like that kill me. I have been playing for about a year and gigging with it and no problems.
Do you know what Revision you had when it went bad? If you only had it since June, could it have been the latest RevH?

These failures are ridiculous already. I wanted to get one years ago.. But i waited.. . I LOVE ampeg too.. But this is still going on?
I was at NAMM when the SVT 8 came out. At that time they skipped the SVT7 and went directly from the svt 6 to the svt 8..
I ordered an SVT 8.. It never came so i cancelled my order about a year later..
I asked the woman ampeg rep why did they skip the 7 and go to 8... She said 7 was a bad luck number.. I never heard of that before. But maybe, just maybe she is right. They should just scrap this already and make one that works

Ridiculous is right. Crazy how many revisions and how long it's taken them to... Not get it right
First off: I don't want to troll: I love the Ampeg sound and since I owned the 7PRO I too bought into the dream. And from my personal perspective, reliability of these amps is below industry par. Just to put things in perspective: after swapping my own SVT-7PRO for a Tecamp Puma 18 months ago after the 7PRO stood me up twice, now the 4 month old C00, rev. H 7PRO of a friend is on its way to the Benelux distributor for repair under warranty. Luckily his amp 'just died'. No intermittent 'crapping out' due to a faulty auxiliary power controller as was the case twice with my unit.

I sold mine. .....nothing ever went wrong with it while I had it. .... but, I couldn't live with it. I bought a Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 and still have it and love it to this day .
It's light, has enough power for me, sounds great and is reliable. So I'm happy . I hold no grudge toward Ampeg , as I also bought a RI V4B not long after. I still have and love it too

Thanks. There are 3 Rev labels. I'm not sure what the RevC00 on the outside of the case refers to, but the more important labels are the Rev label stamped on the preamp board and the Rev label stamped on the power board. The most recent power board upgrade is RevH. I was curious if you had a RevH power board go bad.
