Well I adjusted the amp settings at rehearsal tonight to match the flat settings from the article. Ran it through my nv610t. All I can say is Wow! My jazz bass with half dead strings sounded so flipping good. So much presence in the room. After some slight adjustments I dialed it in perfectly. I guess I was that guy that eq'd the amp with the eyes and not the ears. I have a new appreciation for the 7pro. Just hope it doesn't take a dump.

Here's what are my usual 7Pro settings/starting point - nothing too crazy but has been working well for me:

Based on some of the enthusiasm for the Optimally Flat settings I am going to try them today in band practice. I am a little leery of the Ultra High switch as I am already usually cutting High's without it

Looking at Tom's charts it seems that with all controls at Noon - the scoop is centered around 200Hz - so I wondering if boosting mids on settings 1 or 2 would help fill things out for me

There is a local dealer about an hour away, but I'm not sure how familiar they would be with the issues that some of the 7 Pros have encountered. Any suggestions?

I would contact Ampeg.. Not sure how they will handle your situation but a year and a half after I purchased my SVT 7Pro (A00 Revision) I had a similar issue. I called and emailed Ampeg about my situation and was told they were aware of the A00 revision problems. They replaced my A00 revision with a new C00 revision and I have not had any problems since. To Ampegs credit, they paid shipping on the return and delivery of the new head. Great company and great amp. It may be too late in the game for a complete replacement but they may work with you.. Good luck...

I have a C00 Revision.. it quit today.. just pop and died!

I have a gig coming up in which I will be using my Ampeg 7 Pro and Ampeg 610 HLF. This is my first gig in this room using this amp & cab combo. It isn't a big room, so I estimate 200 people would block the room. I have a loud guitarist with too much low end & and drummer who uses electronic drums. The drums in particular put out toooo much low end and play tricks on my ears. Lol. The guitarist & drum issues are non-negotiable. Lol It is what it is. I have sometimes struggled with my own settings putting out too much low end... and for the most part I am unable to correct my problem. Do you have any suggestions as to settings for my 7 Pro? Also, how far I should be standing in front of the cab to properly hear myself? (I do not have a lot of room personally). Any suggestions for this gig would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like you need mids in the 100-200 range more than low lows. Some 500 and 800 can also help. Experiment around with the mid selector. As for standing near it, I personally don't believe it matters much with a big cab like that.

Good question...you can only choose one mid center point. There's an 800 position, a 450, and a 225. The bass knob could help push the 100-200 range a bit, but experiment around with the mid selector and see what you think.

Has anyone been using the 7 Pro's Tube Direct Output as a DI out to the front house? How has it performed as a DI. I have used a Sans Amp BDDI and the Eden WTDI but I had mixed results. If I set the button on back of the unit to post eq, does this mean that anything I do on the front of the amp will affect the front house signal?

Yup. DI works well. At least as good as the usual run of the mill DIs that most venues will offer up.

Even tho that's a big cab.... it still doesn't hit you right in the ears. ..even the SVT810 doesn't quite. ..
I'd n be sitting that rig on some kind of - strong - crate. Get it up so the top two 10" speakers are right at yr ear level. You'll hear yourself fine with the 7pro pushing that. ...PLUS use Jimmy's mid eq tips also. ...
That's what I do in such situations.

Besides getting the cab up to ear level,... will getting this cab off the floor, reduce the coupling effect with the floor?... If so, how much would be enough to make a difference?
