Ampeg SVT 7 Pro - the known "cutting out" issue

Sorry, I've seen way too many examples of them stepping up for customers to believe that. And quite honestly, I think if you had asked to speak to someone with some decision making power, you could have at least worked out a deal to get it fixed at a reduced price.

Guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

With all due respect Jimmy, you make the assumption that stax63 is lying because you cannot believe that ampeg can do wrong in spite of all the complaints. You question the customers rather than believe that ampeg messed up. You say that you would be the first one to complain about Ampeg and call them on unfair things, but I don't think you've done it except to blame the "idiot" that left. It is really unfair to the people who have been left high and dry by Ampeg.

Spin it however you want, Jimmy - but IMO it's just another example of Ampeg putting out an unreliable product, then worming out of backing it with their "non-transferrable warranty"... It's pretty crappy that they can't stand behind their products better than that - as I've said in the past, if they had more confidence that their products would outlast their warranty period, they would not have a problem offering a transferrable warranty like Mesa, Genz-Benz, and others...

A huge +1

So I am lying Jimmy?
LOL, and I am going to spend all this time to perpetuate a lie? That is very Tea-Party of you. Thanks!

And once again, they have had a number of revisions on the SVT7-PRO, which says that there were defects with the previous models. So stand behind your product! And if you have to "demand to speak to a manager" then that is clear proof that there policy is to put you off and leave you holding their garbage.

Some very good points you are bringing up

My 7 Pro goes back to MF tomorrow. I bought it new, and apparently revision C00 is not totally debugged. In addition to the failures on the gig, it was very noisy in my house, picking up lots of RF etc.

Anyway, I liked the sound quite a bit, but I can get pretty close with the Shuttlemax 9.2. The 9.2 can also get a lot of tones the Ampeg can't. I really wanted to like the 7 Pro, but even though it sounded good, I don't feel I can trust it (or the replacement I could have gotten). I'm not going to badmouth Ampeg, but I suppose this is me voting with my dollars, and not being willing to accept the risk of even a new 7 Pro.

I think one of my mod colleagues is already dealing with some aspects of this thread, but I'll comment too at this point.

smeet's post above is a great example of staying on topic, stating an opinion, justifying it and focusing on the gear under discussion - although I'm sure that people could disagree (respectfully, of course) and ask him some further questions. That's how the forum should work.

In contrast, any posts that are a clear attempt to create bad feelings or antagonise other members of the board are very much against the spirit of the atmosphere we try to create here for discussion and are out of line. Think hard before you post comments in that category - if you REALLY can't help yourself then go right ahead, but your comments will probably be deleted anyway and could very likely result in a forum holiday.

Okay, point made, I hope. Carry on...

I see brother Smeet as a seeker of the best amp and cab for his tone with absolutely no underlying agenda. He is just reporting his personal experience with equipment from different manufacturers.
He was recently saying he was liking the 7 pro. Just came to a personal decision as he documented well. Why anyone would take offense to his approach is beyond me. I like the bassists helping bassists spirit of TB. ;)

You did post JimmyM ;)
I am pretty much done here, they did step up however it came about. Could they (LOUD) have done better, yeah maybe, maybe not. Most people seem to have this special expectation because the name Ampeg is there, maybe? I don't know or care anymore personally. the thread seems to have turned into a grip fest for the most part.

Unsub. :)
